Primary & Secondary Education - August 2006

Would a good incentive to get language students to study harder and support each other to use the incentive that if the class as a whole without cheating does well or has a bparticualr grade average each week the teacher will teach them something naughty in that language...

in life they will need it anyway be it a get lost insult , a put down so you aint a wuss, a chat up line, a love making slang word as clinical speach is a passion killer...

and also so you dont get head kicked in accidently saying the wrong thing to someon twice your size.


But to a teenager learning the bad stuff as they think surly would be a good incentive given the target audience thining especailly to more mischeivous ones.

I'm going to be a sophomore this year and planning to do good in all my classes. In my freshmen year, i got mostly A's and B's. I was on the Freshmen Baskteball team which won 1st place in a state-wide competition.

i have to choose either ap chem or college alg/trig. so the thing is, i'm not very "good" at chem. i made a's and b's when i took pre ap chem and i basically struggled my way through the class and i probably won't end up taking the ap chem test or if i do i wont be able to make a 3+ on it. the only reason, i'm considering the ap chem class is because i was told colleges like students to take advance courses like ap classes and im in 2 right now. as far as my major in college, it'll be in liberal arts/science.

My little guy is struggling in school, he has a hard time doing his work and gets distracted a lot. He won't sound out words, he says it is too hard, yet, he does very well in math! I know he's smart, but I can't seem to get him to concentrate on his work at school or at home, any suggestions?( He gets really upset and is hard to deal with when it comes to reading...he says he can't do it before he even tries! His handwriting is horrible, but if you sit with him he'll write quite well. I'm at my wits end, I just never had trouble in school, it's hard for me to relate!)

I got my schedule the other day and I have debate, which was my 1st choice before school let out, but now I think I'd rather take marketing.

Marketing: In another year or two I can do a paid internship thing. I hear it's a fun class too. Should be some hot guys in that class.

Debate: I'm opinionated so it might be easy. And if I don't switch my schedule my friends will be in my other classes. But you have to go to competitions and stuff. I think it would look better on my college applications. (But I don't even know if I wanna go to college.) And I plan on getting a job before the internship thing comes up. But I don't feel like being stuck with really nerdy people and really ugly guys. (Ok, I'm not sure if that's true but I don't want to find out if it is...)

I either want to be in business or politics when I get older.

Which should I choose?

My daughter has just recently got her results back but shes on holiday and i need to let her know what she got. She got an A*. 7As and a B. I think these are good but i just want to double check before i tell her in case i upset her. Much appreicated

It was a poem I learned in my junior school in the 1950s and think it was about a slave but not sure. The next line is " And the river horse as it rushed the beds by some hidden stream" (something like that anyway. I'd love to track it down if someone can help
