Primary & Secondary Education - August 2006

I'm amazed (in a good way) at the level of energy people put in answering questions. What a great way to test out an issue. But I wonder how old typical users here are. Do you go to school? Have jobs or careers?

This is cool! Of course, some responses are petty and irritating--but this is offset by the occasional, well conceived replies.

My guess is that many here are students and have the leisure time to explore this new world where instant feedback is offered. I suspect that we all better be ready to hear the truth--or at least, the truth as others perceive it. Well, bring it on!

I've never understood that, we learned in history today about the killings of the jewish people back in the 1930's and 40's. What's so bad about them? What's so wrong about their religion?

Any ideas how to teach a child to speak without lisping?

I have a 5 year old who has sucked his thumb since birth and since his language developed he has had a lisp.,. I have tried EVERYTHING to stop him sucking the thumb but it is almost sub concious and the lisp remains!

Any ideas appreciated.. and to those who say what is the prob.. no prob, but I as his mom I would prefer if he was able to define his "s" correctly, it may be cute at 5 but I don't think it will be cute at 25!

3-why might an artist be interested in the human face?

My daughter is going into the third grade. She has always done really well but gets marked down because she works very slowly and meticulously. I and her previous teachers have tried ways to help her move along but she refuses to hurry because she wants to make sure what she does is right.
