I'm amazed (in a good way) at the level of energy people put in answering questions. What a great way to test out an issue. But I wonder how old typical users here are. Do you go to school? Have jobs or careers?

This is cool! Of course, some responses are petty and irritating--but this is offset by the occasional, well conceived replies.

My guess is that many here are students and have the leisure time to explore this new world where instant feedback is offered. I suspect that we all better be ready to hear the truth--or at least, the truth as others perceive it. Well, bring it on!

Welcome to YA!!

I am 53, retired and a grandma. This is how I spend some time while my husband is fighting cancer. He needs to sleep a lot and while he sleeps I often answer questions here. It keeps me in touch with "normality" and for a while takes me out of the all-consuming chaos that is cancer. When he is feeling well enough he answers a few questions here too, or helps me with some. I usually answer serious questions, though I occasionally spend some time breezing through a few of the more frivolous ones. They are all interesting, as like Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates ..." You never know what kind of answers will be posted to any given question.

There are quite a few older people on YA, but I think you are right that there are a lot of students, and a lot of young students - grade school and middle school.

Enjoy your YA experience. It can be a lot of fun.

I'm an oldddddddd school teacher and grandma who found this by accident this past summer. I checked it out looking for an answer to a question and thought it was a neat way to learn and help others out occasionally. I have only been on a few times since school started at the beginning of Aug. and doubt I'll be on much until intersession in Oct. It is truly addicting! Enjoy and don't let the jerks on here turn you off. Like you said, there are enough great people on to offset them.

I am looking for work now a days but I am a stay at home mom lately (took last year and a half off work to be with my daughter)she starts school full time and I will be going back to the workforce soon enough (just lucky to be living with my dad and boyfriend so I could have the option of staying with my daughter till she started school) my mom passed away in november (another reason I moved back home, was when she was alive she was paralyzed and ill and I helped out my dad)and my daughter is with her dad right now (for a few weeks over the summer) so I like to come on here and look at the questions and answers for fun and I like to help people

I have two jobs: one as a legal assistant (25-30 hours a week) and one as a volunteer Bible teacher (at least 70 hours a month). I am also a college student. I honestly don't know why I come to this website. It's just something to do whenever I am sitting at home. I mean, I do have a life and hang with my friends, but this is something interesting for that extra 15 minutes around dinner time.

You can view most user's profiles for some of the info you are looking for.

Me, personally: I do this an hour or so in the evening when I'm done working. I'm in my 40's, grown children, husband gone on military leave. My job is pretty stressful, and frankly I find it enjoyable to give my opinions. I know they may not be the most clever or desired, but the outlet is healthy.

haha, yeah I am a full time college student and i work full time and party it up on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.. BUT when I just want to relax and stuff here is where I come to. I think it's just a matter of feeling like my opinion counts or just another thing to do. Probobly in two weeks I wont do this anymore cuz it wont float my boat or I'll be too busy with homework and papers and ahhh!

Dear Dr. Bob,
I do have a job. As a matter of fact, I have two jobs. I don't have a lot of free time but when I do, after work, this is one of the things I enjoy doing. It is always an interesting way to unwind. I don't like to watch tv much. I think it is harmless and there are worse things I could be wasting my time doing.

I am an adult. I work more than fulltime. I relax here. It has saved me a lot of money because I used to shop on ebay to find wierd stuff as a hobby and of course I found a lot of wierd stuff that I just had to have. I find this site more fun than watching television because it is interactive and at least part of the time it is also real.

I work full time but usually spend an hour or two each night on the Net. And yah, I DO have a life. This is just another pastime. A pretty funny one too.

OH NO you mean I have to have a life outside here. Shoot being a redneck I thought the Lottery would take care of everything. It's gonna take me a lot longer to reach level three though not quite sure it will be worth it.
