I am a future teacher, I would love to share ideas with anyone majoring in education! We've got some serious work to do, especially in low-budget schools. Please share your ideals, philosophies, etc. with me either here or on my group page, teachersofthefuture.

Every child is special and unique in their own way. I've been teaching Junior HIgh for over 10 years and you really have to love what you teach and care about the kids you are educating.

Good Luck!

I just graduated college with a bachellor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and throughout the years it took to complete, I did field work and service learning in a huge variety of schools. I spent time one semester in a private school where the tuition (from preschool on up to 8th grade) is $12,000 a year. That same semester I spent time in a district that is in major financial need, and the students that attended it are of a very low socio-economic status.

I can honestly say that regardless of the school system, all districts and schools have some sort of problems. I don't think it's any easier to work in a wealthy district as opposed to a poorer district. And when it came time to choosing where I would student teach, I chose the public school where breakfast and lunch were free to students (due to desparate need in the community).

In the private school, I didn't feel like I was wanted/needed/or helping in any way. In the district I student taught in, I really felt like I was able to make a difference in the lives of my students.

I am want to teach at a high school that is a really low budget. So , since I know that they can not provide for most things that i want when I teach, I am saving money right now to buy them myself. Like a projector that connects to a computer. I would try to be flexible to what they are asking as well. To me, as long as I have another job secured, I would be more than glad to teach at a marginal amount. It is not what we have learned that matters, it is the future of those that we want to teach, we need to influence them .

I am not a teacher. But I HAVE been a student of both college and high school.
And I have always thought that kids play video games for hours because it's fun.....now, if teachers could just make learning fun (like using a video game to teach spelling or history) then students would not get bored and they would work their little butts off.
