I was listening to one of those political debate radio stations the other day and I heard mention that in California, some schools will at some point start promoting homosexuality in schools. I am not against homosexuals, but I did not think it was right to ban religion from schools and then promote homosexuality in school. What ever happened to just teaching history, math, etc. in schools?

I agree with you completely. However, there is a difference between promote and inform.

I teach in California and I know that they do not promote homosexuality, but it is ok to discuss it, provide information and answer student questions. Teachers can do the same with religion as long as they are not promoting a religion.

California schools are considering adding the contributions homosexuals have made to the community, nation and world to their curriculum. At no point has there been any serious consideration to promote homosexuality. 30 years ago, several young women at a California university started a small project that became Women's History Month. Its opponents wondered why one would need to single out women's contributions to history.
I believe the desire to mention that homosexuals have made major contributions to many areas of life. I believe this is called inclusion. Interesting concept, isn't it?

It isn't about promoting homosexuality... it is about teaching tolerance of others.

Public school instruction would not promote homosexuality, any more than it would promote a religious faith.

The instruction involves "some people feel this way... and as long as they are productive, gentle, and courteous members of the community, their private lifestyle shouldn't matter to you."

No, I believe that they should be held back a year until they promise to be heterosexual. Since very few of them, if any, can actually change or would even want to do so even if they could, you will eventually end up with a class of homosexual students of different ages in the same grade.
Wouldn't that be queer?

I suspect that what they were promoting is toleration of homosexuals, which would bother some people.

I doubt that they were pushing people to engage in homo activity.
