One answer here says, "At least for women". That's a buncha crud.... In high school. Girls aren't the one's being beaten up for their lunch money.
The answer is NO. There are several reasons for my answer and the main answer is that every kid would take the course and each of them would feel falsely empowered by their training.
Self defense courses generally don't and CAN'T train for real life...protection from someone who REALLY wants to hurt you. I think that having such a course in lower divisions would actually cause more children to be beat up at or after school.
My other reasons for this all have to do with the fact that schools are leaving so much of the actual education experience to parents, they had better not be finding time to teach kids self defense while I'm having to drive my kids to the mission for their 4th grade project, which USED to be a field trip project.
It's also a liability issue. What if someone gets hurt in class?

The key problem with your question is "should." Some do. I understand that I could have taken judo when I was in college, and I wish I had. But one cannot dictate curriculum to a college. Self-defense would be a P.E. class and the P.E. department would be the ones to decide whether they could both get a competent instructor AND fill the class with students. Lack either one of those and it cannot happen.
Certainly, if one wants self-defense to be part of the curriculum, include that in your college search.

many women and children dies everyday from sexual predators why? because they don't know how to protect themselves if only they knew self defense their lives could be saved. i think we should include self defense in the course because it will be good for us women and children, we will no longer be a prey for evil men.

No. The schools have to teach too much crap already that you should have learned at home - sharing, hygenine, ethics and morality, sex ed, staying away from strange dogs, household safety, cooking, sewing, etc. At some point, the parents must be responsible.

I think that American schools, like their Japanese counter-parts do, should teach martial arts.
Discipline/respect.
Exercise/weight management.
Practical self-defense purposes.

I would say yes, at least for women just in case they are ever attacked.
