I know someone who insists that University of Alberta is the best place in Canada to go for engineering. Is this true? Also, where to Queens University and University of Toronto rank for engineering? (chemical engineering to be specific)

I have almost completed my dissertation for my psychology undergraduate degree, but the thing is, in my module booklet it just says must not exceed 10,000 words!! I have only manged 8,000. I can't write anymore as there doesn't seem to be anything more I can add!! Will this matter? What is the minimum word limit does anyone know? I understand that most essay's give you 10% under or over but even with this 10% I am still 1000 words under. I have emailed my supervisor to ask if 8000 words is enough but they haven't got back to me. Any advice will be much appreciated!! Thanks!!

I am a full time single parent and I work full time, so (although I wish I could) there is no way I can attend classes (even night classes would not fit into my schedule). I have an Associates degree, but I would love to be able to earn a Bachelors degree. University of Phoenix seems like a viable option for me. I'm just concerned about being turned down a job due to the degree not being held to the same regard as one from a traditional school. What do you all think?

I've applied and interviewed at a school for my Psy.D. (Clinical Psychology). The program accepts up to 27 people per year and interviewed roughly 75-80. I was just informed that I am on the alternate list. I'm wondering what my realistic odds are for acceptance. I know it depends on financial aid, rejections, etc. My question is how OFTEN does someone reject a grad school. Do I have a 50/50 chance, or more like a 10% chance? Anyone know?

I'm a current LLB Law student in Leeds and have aspirations to become an academic in Law. I know I will first have to complete a Masters and then a PhD. Has anyone undertaken a PhD, particularly Law? Or someone who is a law academic and can comment?

I am going to take a placement test at college, and there will be math questions. I am pretty good at algebra but I am afraid of trigonometry since I forgot most of it's formulas. Now I have short time (less than a week) and I need to brush myself up for this. Now what do you suggest me to study on trigonometry? All the basic rules? Need help on this, thanks!

At the beginning of the class my "Professor" stated that we could call him "Tim", "Professor" and then rambled on about how he wanted to break the barrier of students feeling that they cannot approach him because he is the "Professor". He also came off as not really caring how we address him. It was kind of confusing. Later on in the class I emailed him for help. I was confused on how to address him so I choose to call him "Mr. Schroeder". I didn't want to be too formal but I didn’t want to be to casual either. He replied to my e-mail and at the bottom he wrote the following: "By the way: when writing a professor, I recommend using 'Professor' as a title rather than 'Mr.' It's generally most polite to use a person's most distinguished title when writing to the person. Or, as I mentioned at the start of the course, you can always use 'Tim'. But if we're going to be formal, then I recommend being formal in a nice way." I felt that it was rude and snobbish. What do you think about this?

i just receieved a 55 on my midterm in my oceanography class yesterday. we have one more exam in may. those two grades will be combined and averaged to make our grade for the semester. i think its bullcrap how we only get two grades this semester but thats besides the point.

if i get atleast a 90 on our final, which will cover everything from now until the end of april, i will get a 72 in that class. i believe i can get higher than a 90 on the next test if i motivate myself.

what would you guys do?
