It is an okay score. On the current CAT form of the test you can get any where from 200 on each section to 800 on each section in increments of 10. Then on the writing section you get a score from 0-6 in 0.5 increments. If you are taking the new computer version that is just being used this year then there is a different scale, but I am not sure of it... Another thing that makes a difference is what field you are in. If you are lib arts, bus, so on it is a good - if you are engineering, math or any other science well it really isn't that great. I am currently applying for grad school for a PhD in Economics and all the schools want at least a 1200. I hope that gives you a little bit of an idea on how to judge your score... =)

To begin with, you will receive a "scaled score" within a range of 200 to 800 for the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE. The highest you can score on either of these sections is 800 and the lowest you can score on these sections is 200. In addition, you will receive a score on a scale of zero to six for the writing section.
