The very best schools for both academics and sports are Duke, Stanford and UC-Berkeley.
In general, any great state university would be good -- especially those in the Big Ten, ACC or Pac Ten.
Any of the better schools in the Big East could make the list. You have to be careful here -- because that includes schools like Villanova, Georgetown, Syracuse and Notre Dame that have good academics -- but you don't want to include less selective schools like St John's or Seton Hall in the list.
