You have to think about what you're actually afraid of in college. Is it that you'll be away from family, friends, and familiar things? Living on your own? Being in a strange city? Afraid the work load might be too heavy? Scared you don't know what you're doing with your life? Once you figure out exactly -what- scares you about college, you can go about helping it. College can be a great time in your life, meeting new people, having new freedoms, learning new things bothin and out of class and taking another step towards independence and adulthood. There are places and organizations on campus that can help you get adjusted to the new arrangements and it never hurts to join a club or team or two.
If you're just not sure you want to go to college, I would recommend taking a year off to work and think about what you actually want to do. You may not be suited for college, but I would recommend getting some post secondary training. Maybe a community college. Decide what you want to do, and do it.

Well to answer your question I will ask you a question; what is it about going to college that makes you afraid? Is it fear of failure? fear of the unknown? fear of losing your social position (ex: going from senior back to freshman)? fear of being away from home? Are you afraid you are not financially ready for college? Once you know where your fear comes from, it will be easier to address. If you are afraid of failure, try some activities that you would normally shy away from because you fear you will fail in them. Use an activity where the consequences of failure would be minimal. Whether you succeed or fail in these activities is unimportant , the important thing is that you faced you fear. The more times you face you fear the better equipped you will be to handle it. This same approach work for other phobias, simply replace failure with whatever you are afraid of. I hope this helps.

Start out taking an easy class. Something like art or a subject that you are interested in. This will give you the chance to get use to the change.

Going to college is a good decision.

college was 1000 times better than high school! oh how I miss those days.. I was so depressed when college was over! trust me.. college is nothing to be afraid of! most of my classes weren't any more difficult than high school classes.. if you can write well, it'll help a lot.. people are generally nicer in college than they were in high school too.. it's just so much better than high school... it's also where I met my wife..
