I don't want to reebot the computer or anything like that. Please help!

I'm just curious on how they do it, all I know is that it has something to do with the IP address, like how do they track down a person's house address from their e-mail, internet, etc., like if someone is posting or sending a threat on a website or anywhere on the Internet, how do the police, F.B.I., or other law enforcement track people down?

People that I have personally talked to or notified about this issue seem to project an attitude of uninterest because they don't respond or comment at all.

It looks a lot 'different' than many of the adware/spyware/internet security programs I have seen, including the free ones. When you do an 'update'...it wants you to pick from various weird servers that are all over the world, as to where your download updates are going to come from. What's up with that? Most of those sites, I have never heard of...some don't even look like legit sites. Does anybody else use SS&D and see this stuff? I got it from CNet's download.com. Just wondering why this interface is so weird, and why it downloads all of this crap with a bunch of odd extensions that aren't like other virus/spyware/adware extensions most programs have. Why does this one look so...what's the word..."hacker-like" with a bunch of crap everywhere on it? When it's searching...at the bottom it states that it's running a 'bot check'; and scrolls through all of these hundreds of crazy extensions it downloaded from who knows where. Just wanted to know how 'normal' this actually is?

I found this site that says that i can change the key.. and my problems are ''solve''

But i don't get this steps

In the right pane, right-click OOBETimer, and then click Modify.

Change at least one digit of this value to deactivate Windows.

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK.

Here is the link http://www.petri.co.il/change_the_serial_in_windows_xp.htm

Say you have years of priceless data stored on your hard drive and all your install disks are at home. Then your whole house burns to the ground, and while you were busy trying to save less important things like, oh say, your kids, you totally forgot to disconnect your computer from everything and carry it out too. All that data would be lost.

What would you possibly recommend to prepare for and prevent such loss?

Norton blocked a worm while I was on the DeviantArt.com website, but it happened while I was opening Wikipedia in another tab. If I didn't have an account on DeviantArt.com, I would turn the security and privacy settings up to max. What are your recommendations?

We just got wireless internet at the house. are people going to try to "steel" our connection? the internet guy said that it's password protected and that people can't get on it. what does that mean if they do get on it? why don't we want people connecting to our wireless? if they do could they get our information? i just got a pop up on my computer of a log in. it was just a log in where you put in your username and password. did that mean someone was trying to get in? or was it just another pop up? i know you know a lot about this technology stuff, my smart friend. any information you have would be helpful.

Without actually downloading anything FROM Limewire?

It's like you download Limewire but don't do anything with it. It just sits there. Blank.

Can it still screw up your computer?

Hi guys

What is a trojan fake alert virus and what is the best way to get rid of it, my 'bullguard' software just keeps blocking it but it keeps 'popping' up again, without removing it?
I also can't find the affected files.

Thanks in advance.

how do i get rid of it completely?? i have tried all of the antiviruses that were recommended for me to download such as kaspersky, avg, avast, spyware doctor, etc. nothing seems to work. they all find the trojan virus and "delete" them but it's still in my comp. the trojan changed my whole desktop, the wallpaper i had before shows up when i first start my computer and then it changes it to a blue screen and stays that way, all it does is change my wallpaper and make everything muchhh slower. this is a fairly new pc and i don't want to get rid of it please help me, anything i can do to get rid of the trojan??? :(
besides scanning my computer?
