Some people create viruses to cause emotional distress to another person. o_O

As for how they do it, I have no idea and I wouldn't want to know.

YOU have to protect your pc from hackers.

First part is making sure you have a firewall
( windows firewall or linksys routers have built in firewall) You can get a free one from zonelabs.com

2nd part is anit virus ( most virus come through the sites you visit , some make sure you stay away from suspicious sites. second point of entry is email and thing you download ) Get your self a good anti virus free ones are avg ( free.grisoft.com) and bitdefender.

IF YOU GET POP UPS OF "YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED AND YOU CAN BUY THE ANTI VIRUS BY CLICKING HERE" these are scams. so make sure you don't give them you credit card and any other info.

Virus are used to get personal info such as credit cards, name, files, passwords to your email and etc or used as a routing point so the the hacker's criminal activities cannot tracked to them.

3rd get your self a antispyware ( spyware or malware are for popups and ad on your machine. they can also be mediums for hackers to get control of your machine and get you personal info.) you can get free ons at lavasoft.com or free.grisoft.com.

bottom line not all hackers are bad or try to harm you just a few bad apples. Most of the hacking is blow out of proportion by our society and media , they usually focus on one or two bad hackers but do not show the good things hackers have done (like hacking into a terrorist website and shutting down them down so they cannot get access to getting fund from online donations - something i read on couple sites) . but that does not mean you should not protect yourself against the few bad apples.
