Depending on where you downloaded it, yes and no. Certain sites have attached spy ware as well as viruses on to Limewire. You should always scan your files before you open them or use an auto scanner. Usually if you don't touch (execute) the file at all, nothing bad should happen.

ah I don't think so. It is really just dependent on what you are downloading. Be careful and I am sure you'll be fine. I have had Limewire for a year and nothing has happened to my computer and I use it very often, maybe even 3-5 times a week. My dad is very smart with computers and he even says Limewire is completely harmless if you use it right. Do not download anything that you are not sure of. Usually songs are a bigger file than 2mb so don't download any unusually small files. I also recommend that you do not download pictures from there. It could be dangerous or something bad that you do not want. I hope this helps you - Michelle

Computers always run slower when downloading. I use limewire all the time, but never download videos. Most carry viruses. What I do is install it when I am in the mood to make a cd and uninstall it right after. I have done this about 5+ times now. I just made a new one about 2 days ago with nothing but my favorite songs from this group I listen to. Greatest hits albums just don't cut it. I usually just buy my music from the store, but I like to make old school cds. And limewire is perfect for that. You should do a scan of your comp to see if you have any viruses before jumping to conclusions. Because like I said, downloading always makes computers run slower. The more you download at a time, the slower your computer runs. I put a link to a good spyware program. But once again, you have to download it to make it work. Free 30 day trial. I personally don't use this. I paid for xoft. But this is one of the best I have come accross so far.

If you downloaded Limewire on your computer and it does not work you may have a security setting that is not allowing you to use it. It can mess up your computer, but most likely if you are not able to access the program then your security software is obviously working. You may want to go ahead and remove the program. I have it on my computer and I use it from time to time with no security and it doesn't mess anything up. Try running a spyware/virus scan once in a while. A really good one that I recommend to people that I talk to at work is www.trendmicro.com, there is a free scan on there called Housecall. Check it out! Good luck!

No. It can't. LimeWire has no viruses. When you start downloading things is when you might get some.

Anytime you download ANYTHING, you risk damage. The source of the files you're downloading - a server somewhere, someone else's 'puter, whatever - can have all kinds of malicious files on it.
You should have a firewall in place just for browsing on the 'net, and a good one as well as a good virus scanner if you're downloading files.
