Hi guys
What is a trojan fake alert virus and what is the best way to get rid of it, my 'bullguard' software just keeps blocking it but it keeps 'popping' up again, without removing it?
I also can't find the affected files.

Each malware is slightly different.
Start by disabling Windows Message service. Start > Run > services.msc.
Scroll down to "message ....". Right click. Disable.
When your system blocks a virus or popup, it should save a history with some details. When you know the EXACT virus name or website location, you can google a precise answer.
I recently saw a virus that would not die. Eventually I found a Symantec tool designed to remove JUST that specific virus.
Many general purpose virus checkers and spyware blockers are being reverse engineered by the spyware sellers, allowing their message to evade detection or correction.
One my lessons is now run a security package. I am currently testing Kaspersky's 30 day trial system. So far, pretty good.
Kaspersky coaches the user through the process of making a RESCUE DISK built on BartPE !!!
That one feature could have saved me hours of headache.

Do you have the updated virus definitions for your scanning software? You could download a free trial version of Mcafee and do a full system scan to see if it can find the problem and fix it.

Also don't forget that most hackers today after infecting your system with a trojan or virus they install a "root" kit which is really hard to detect and remove
