I've been running SuperAntiSpyware and Spyware Doctor, and have run several complete McAfee scans on my laptop, but my computer is still running so slow that it's taking about 15 minutes from the time I click the "on" button to the time I get a logon window for my wireless connection. I'm getting various popup windows from McAfee and Spyware Doctor (and a few but not as many from SuperAntiSpyware) saying that malicious programs are being stopped from running, but they still aren't getting removed and I'm starting to wonder if using System Restore on Windows is my best way to go. The problems started about a week and a half ago, and I've been trying to set a System Restore date of Nov. 1, but I'm not getting the option to set a date before Nov. 14--the first time I tried to use System Restore.

I want to restrict one ftp user so that it cannot access any other directory on the server other than the home directory assigned to it.

It should have full access to its home directory and all its sub-directories.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

My new partner's ex is a police man who works in survailence with access to IT equipment etc. I opened her a sub account attached to my bt account. she gave him the address over the phone and he sent her one e-mail. then phoned to say that he would not send any more info over that address because i am the account administrator and will have access. Has he acted illegally in tracing the e-mail address back to my account? I thought this was not possible? We think he has acted in appropriately by using police facilities to trace this back!

All ya gotta do is use another computer or have your ISP change it. Seems so simple (to me) to get around and I thought of it immediately.

My computer (which is running windows xp) doesnt have security center or windows firewall. My limewire just stopped working recently and I went to the limewire support page and it said it might be because of my windows firewall. So it told me to go to my control panel and switch to "classic view" and double click on Windows firewall but I noticed that i didnt have a Windows firewall icon so then i went to Microsoft.com it said it should be under Security center and I noticed again I dont have that icon either. So I decided to look under them under search, and it didnt come up.How can I fix this?

Right now the only ones I can name are:
-Ghana/Nigerian dating scams (you end up sending money)
-Craigslist IP-Relay scams ("Hello this is ___ do you have __ for sale? ...ok email me") ...also Nigerian
-Email scams (Congratulations you won some foreign lottery/inheritance/stored money)

Can anyone name any others? About 90% of these scams involve Yahoo accounts so I figured here is a good place to ask!

I have never known my father since my mom left him before I had any memory of him and I never had the opportunity to meet him since. I've always known that someday I would like to meet or at least contact him. Well, today my mom found him on a social networking site. She called me to give me the link. I am grown and out of her house but she let me know that she wants me to proceed very cautiously and anonomously in contacting him. I agreed to this, especially since he admits to being bi polar in his biography. In his online posts he seems like a very decent person but one can never tell. So, first of all, what is the best way to begin contact with him? On the site he's a member of it looks like I could email him if I register. I also found a page with his actual email address posted. So I don't know if I should email him through the site or on my own. Also, whichever way I contact him, what are some tips to keep myself anonomous and safe? This type of thing is a complete first for me.

I have had my computer for about 3 and a half years now and I have never got any kind of virus on it ever. It's also on the internet all the time and I have no virus protection. I just clear all of the history, files, cookies, etc. on all of the browsers like every week. I think that virus protection is a waste of money. If I ever did get a virus in the future, I would simply reformat.

Hello Fellow Yahoo Users

Some times when I access my Yahoo e-mail I get a message:

"Unusual Activity Detected
To protect you, your account has been suspended from sending, saving, and receiving mail for up to 48 hours"

It does not seem to be making any difference, I can still access my account but I am not sure why this is happening and how to prevent it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cordially

Wahad
