Security - September 2007

Friends computer running slow so we thought we'd delete the cookies and temporary internet files but the computer refuses to do this - we've gone into Tools, Internet Options delete cookies delete temporary internet files but nothing happens, it keeps returning back to internet options without doing anything - where are we going wrong? is there another way to delete these files? any help would be appreciated.

I think I'm kinda infected with a strange virus which is not recognized by any of the anti-virus programs I've tried so far. It inserts the string BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB and sometimes a bunch of funny characters at the beginning of some web pages in my browser (either Mozilla or IE). Worst of all, I cannot have access to my Gmail account since what I face is a page full of unknown characters exactly like when you open an exe file in Notepad. The virus is has this effect periodically (usually at nights)! Has anyone of you ever experienced the same thing and what have you done to get rid of it? Thanks.

I have two disic drives on my computer D Drive will configurate, but C drive will not it keeps saying start up has changed going back to the beguning ,Whots wrong with it and how can i fix it?

However after downloading the updates the software no longer ran. Now when turning on my machine the whole system freezes when I try to do anything. Is there anything that I can do to save this mess?

ok i just wanted to know if i get lime wire and download music from it to my ipod would my computer get viruses even though i have spy-sweeper and anti virus running.

how can i enable winrar to prompt me to put password first before seeing the file and before extracting. (2 or more times winrar will ask me to put password.) i know how to put password to winrar but it allows me to input the password only before i extract the file not before i open it. please guide me.

i have spywere on my comp. a message pops up saying , your comp. is making unautherized copies of your system and internet files. run full scan now to prevent any unaurthrized access to your files click yes or no. so i have AVG, SpyBot and windows deffender. but only SpyBot can pick it up on a scan. but when i click the fix button and immunize i restart my comp. and nothing....tell me what i have to do to remove this.

It has affected the file called adptifw.dll and adptifw.dll.bak.
Even if i try to delete those files, i am unable to delete.

Hi
Small problem with my gmail account. I frequently check personal emails in office and the password to my gmail account is stored on to my office pc i.e when i type my login name the password appears on its own.

How do i delete or 'unsave' the password so that my mail account is not accessed by anyone else acessing gmail through my pc.
