If you have a Router on your high speed internet, that blocks outsiders from coming in, then Windows Firewall should do the trick. Keep your anti-spyware solution up to date, and run a full scan every few days. I recommend the free SpyBot Search & Destroy that you can get from http://www.download.com
Do all of this regularly, and your computer will run better.

For Viruses ? Install Avast- Anti Virus / Youll Never Get a Virus In Your Life If You Install that Trust Me And If a Virus Trys To Enter Your Computer Avast Stops It.

windows firewall is a joke. so use different well known reputable third party software.

mcafee
bitdefender
P.S. don't install 2 firewalls at the same time, they will create conflicts and your system will have problems

Use Comodo and not ZoneAlarm.

I have zone alarm on my computer, and it keeps all of the bugs out of my computer, from pop ups to junk mail. I'd definitely suggest it.
