Although most trusted vendors claimed their sites are virus-, adware-, spam and spyware-free,
how else can they steal information from us when we try out free PC games and free software (trial version)?

Can they access the history folder of web pages visited or much more?

What software to use to protect a home PC?

I was trying to log in on the RachealRay TV Show and a porn site came up. I don't have much experience on these things, now I'm told that my PC is infected, have been trying to clean it up with no success. I'm being told over and over the same things. I've used my PC cleaner and its still there. keeps popping up every couple minutes. Anyone know how I can fix this?

I have decided to get rid of Norton's. I now have AVG.

Do I need a firewall as 'Norton's' has gone or do I use window's firewall?

if the computer science industry reflected more of the spirit of the “Homebrew Computer Club” and less of of private property rights & profit, do you think there would be more or less computer innovation? Why or why not?

I need to get new anti-virus software for my laptop. I'm running XP Home with a 20G hard drive. I also have an external hard drive so I don't keep excess pictures and files on the laptop. I was recommended AVG by a friend of a friend, but some of the reviews I've read have said it's not very user friendly. I've always used Norton but have read that it really slows the computer down. I also saw that Bit Defender has good reviews, but I'm just not sure if it offers as much protection as Norton Internet Security. If I go with Norton, which I might because that's what I'm familiar with, then it would be Internet Security, not just the Anti-Virus program. Another thing I'm trying to keep in mind is price, of course. Norton only offers one year whereas some of the others come with 2 year subscriptions. Thanks!

I need to learn how to protect my IP on the internet. I know people can trace you by just knowing your IP and that makes me uncomfortable. What is the best way to be safe (or "hide") in the internet? And is there also a way to change your IP address to fake ones hiding your real one?

(I have my own laptop and use wireless from my home wireless router thats connected to another router).
