I had the same problem with macafee, what i eventually did was, click on the start button on the bottom left of your PC,click on the program that sais ,run,a window will appear, type in
%temp%
this will take you into your temporary files, delete all files, this will take you a fair bit of time but this is where my problem was eventually solved.hope this work`s for you.
i would also advise getting rid of macafee, get norton 2006,
dont get the 2007 version because there are some problems with the new version.good luck.

These r nasty things that wont leave u alone until u totally wipe'em out from the roots, heres the most effective surefire way to get rid of these trojan and clean ur pc,first transfer all ur important documents in C in other drives, then format ur system drive (C or wutever it is) and re-install windows, now, turn off ur system re-store,then install a fresh copy of ur avg free, exit windows and login in SAFE MODE,run AVG in SAFE MODE,it will scan with command prompts, and with system re-store turned off, theres no chance for the virus to hide in ur memory,if u follow these steps properly,ur windows shud have been effectively cleaned of the virus by the time avg is done, gud luck, and a bit of advise, never install ne software ur windows updater suggests u except updates for the windows os itself, like security patches and stuff, other than that, never use ne other anti-virus remover tools or ne malware/spyware remover, they r totaly bogus and screw up ur system,i tried this method on my XP and never had ne problem since,so hope itll work for u too,gud luck, oh and dont 4get to turn on the system restore after u clean the virus and login in normal start-up.Another useful tool to use is MALWAREBYTE.

Try AVG, adaware, and spyware search & destroy.
They're all free and really good at finding and removing viruses, spyware, and adware. The links are in the sources. I use all three on my family's PCs :)
Worst case scenerio they *should* be able to at least let you know if they're something worse happening.
Also, how old is your machine and how fast is your internet conncetion? A slow processor, 256MB or ram and a slow internet connection could also be at fault.

no you just have spy ware and adware. You need a spy ware detector so you can run the program and delete them. Mcafee and Norton constantly miss spyware. Spy-ware and adware basically just connect to the internet and constantly run programs in the background without you knowing. All its doing is sending info to websites you visit most. Its main purpose is to display ads that you are more likely to click on, and it also tracks your browsing habits for the same purpose. Delete your internet cache and browsing history.
Do a search for Ad-Aware. Its free and you can run it today.
Uninstall programs to free up system space so your computer can run faster.

If you have tried another antivirus scan like norton, and it came back clear, you probably don't have a virus. Try downloading a free antivirus program, like avg and then turn off mcaffe, or better yet, uninstall it. Then see if that works.

microsoft malicious software removal tool, its free from m/s.AVG free anti virus is top class.windows live one care is another.Beware of trying programs that tell you you need to buy their programs to sort your pc out.uninstall the macafee, uninstall the programs you have downloaded but dont use any more.you could use system, restore.if you decide to use adaware, only download it from lavasoft.com.

do you know what a virus signature update is? if you do, have you updated yours? if the answer to either of those questions is "NO", you need to start by updating your virus signatures
when your signatures are up-to-date, run a COMPLETE system scan (overnight while you're not going to get frustrated at how many hours it's taking)
you haven't specified which mcafee product you use but i hope the link here helps.

Disable your Mcafee and download AVG anti-virus. Its good and its free. If that works well for you use it instead of Mcafee. You should only use 1 anti-virus at a time.

It might not be a virus, maybe it is a hard drive error.
Start > Run > "cmd"
>
"chkdsk /f"
Restart and let it do its job.
Also look for spyware! A new kind of threat.
'A-Squred' has an impressive free security tool!
