I just upgraded to a mac. I do a lot of Internet browsing and a few downloads here and there. Mac prides itself on not having many viruses and spyware, but should I still get virus/spyware protection. If so, are there any that are Mac specific? Thanks for the help.

So I made a passcode, and in each of the "Key 1" through "Key 4" sections, it generated a 10 digit code.

I went to my wireless computer, and typed in the passcode, and it filled in one of the 10 digit Key codes on its own.

What is that Key for if it's automatically filled in when somebody types in the passcode?

Also, when connecting to the router, after setting up WEP, it still said "security: disabled" on the Profile screen. How do I enable it, or do I need to?

I bring my lecture files from class' computer in my USB disk. Every time I get it in my computer, I run Norton Antivirus scan check & always there are Trojans & viruses detection. So the main problem is with the class computer, which has no Antivirus software. But is there any idea or any software available that I can prevent those viruses & trojans entering my USB disk? Any solutions apart from scanning?

I already tried Spybot S&D, Ad-Adware SE Personal, SpywareGuard, and smitRem. None worked :( It has been bothering me for days with the fake windows and alerts, it changed my home page, and the internet opens by itself in Ads or other fake antispyware.

I'm curious as to what anti-virus software is the absolute best, as in it defends better than any other software available, not the price. Also not slowing down the computer would be great. Thank you!

I have no idea what is wrong with my computer. This has never happened before. There are like news reports playing in my headphones!! They're just random reports by some woman Jennifer Matthews. It plays a report, then a commercial comes on. Then it plays another report. It goes on and on and it won't stop!! Also, when I log onto Yahoo and MSN, it won't let me do things. Some of the buttons stop working. It won't open new IMs. I have terrible popups and they don't go away. Sometimes my computer won't even open Internet Explorer!! I think I have a virus or spyware or something and I have no idea how!! I haven't been on any porn sites or anything else that gives you viruses. I have NO IDEA what this is!! Someone PLEASE help me!!!

Is it normal for it to take more than 4-5 hours to complete a download update? I stopped using it for several months because it took too long and have been using it again for about a month now. I try to do all my spyware/ adaware/ antivirus updates at least 1x per week or more. But the Spybot always seems to take HOURS. Is this normal for Spybot? Is it still updating/downloading when it is not in the forefront of the monitor? Does it go to sleep if I am working in other windows? Does Spybot have to stay in the foreground to get its work done?

Norton and Webroot Spysweeper orginally came with my computer one year ago. I renewed Norton, and upgraded to Norton 360. How much protection do I really need, my fear is that Norton uses so much memory, and is it really necessary? I thought about simply downgrading to Norton Antivirus and dropping all of the other components with 360.

Some IT security people believe that their organizations should never fail to employ whatever resources are necessary to capture and prosecute computer criminals. Do you agree? Why or why not?

2. You have just been hired as an IT security consultant to “fix the security problem” at Acme United Global Manufacturing. The company has been hacked mercilessly over the last six months, with three of the attacks making the headlines of the business section for the negative impact they have had on the firm and its customers. You have been given 90 days and a budget of $1 million. Where would you begin, and what steps would you take to fix the problem?

3. You have learned that a friend of yours is developing a worm to attack the administrative systems at your institution of learning. The worm is “harmless” and will simply cause a message – Let’s party! – to be displayed on all workstations connected to the computers on Friday afternoon at 3 P.M. by 4 P.M. the virus will erase itself and destroy all evidence of its presence. What would you do?
