What is the best Anti-virus Software?

Question

I'm curious as to what anti-virus software is the absolute best, as in it defends better than any other software available, not the price. Also not slowing down the computer would be great. Thank you!

Most big corporate businesses use McAfee,magazine reviews Kaspersky got the best review but if your not using shareware sites Avg 7.5 is quite adequate protection,best of all it's free.

AVG, Norton (Symantec), and McAfee are all far down the list when it comes to as complete coverage as you can get. There are very few anti-virus programs that do a good job. Kapersky and TrendMicro's PC-Cillin are a couple that come to mind, but I would not say they are the best. There was another one that was mentioned that I do not have any experience with (NOD 32), so I cannot comment on it, but I do intend on testing it.
The one that I've personally used for the past 4 1/2 years, and the one that our company recommends (we're a computer repair company) is Panda Anti-virus with a firewall.
We deal with virus and spyware daily. Most of the customers have either Norton, McAffe, or AVG. If those programs are doing such a great job, why do they have viruses?
In the entire time that we've been using and recommending Panda Anti-virus, we've NEVER had ANYONE call and say that they've been infected again. EVER!
Having said all that, there are no perfect programs. Panda does an amazing job protecting against virus, and it also protects against spyware as well. However, I would not trust Panda to find all the spyware.
Virus and spyware are seperate types of threats, and that means you need specific programs for each. The best anti-spyware program that I'm aware of is SpySweeper. Unfortunately, spyware can be very difficult to deal with, so we usually recommend, in addition to SpySweeper, people can use other programs such as Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spyware Doctor, CWShredder, Hijack This, and AVGs anti-spyware.

Some of the most recommended programs on here always seem to be AVG or Avast - although this is likely to be because they are free? Looking at current protection ratings, AVG scores a lowly 90% protection against all known viruses, whilst Avast comes in at 92%. This means they are letting through one in every ten viruses - pretty shocking.

The same goes for Spybot and Adaware. In fact if you had AVG, Spybot and Adaware installed, you would surprisingly only be protected from circa 60% of all known malware (viruses, adware, spyware, trojans, etc).

Norton and McAfee are the "best known" security products, which are currently protecting against something like 98.3% and 97% of all known viruses - a much better score. However, both of these are known for being very heavy programs which can tend to slow down certain machines. If you are thinking of installing either of these I would definitely recommend you download their free trial to check it does not affect your machine in this way prior to opening your wallet.

If you would be interested in other Security products that are better than all of these, you should try either Prevx1, Kaspersky or F-Secure who all score over a 99% protection rating. Out of these three my recommendation would be Prevx1, as this is the quickest at protecting against new outbreaks of malware.

The best anti -Virus; I think you should use Mcafee, because it is simple and cheap.. I use to use it on my old computer, it really helps.. theres also different options depending on how much u want to spend..

Norton antivirus: EXTREMELY ANNOYING.. it keep on having pop-ups??? Sometimes it even makes me think the NOrton AntiVirus is a virus ITSELF because it keeps on having pop ups saying I have a virus and it is helping me clean it right now?? what the helll man..!

then there is the free ones; like AVG. which I am using right now because im being cheap... AVG is Ok, i guess for someting Free

It relies upon on which software has extra as much as date "virus definition" information. Any answer is a wager. i'd wager the av-xp is physically powerful except the McAfee utility is as much as date too. reckoning on the severity of the an infection, it may be maximum suitable to bypass away it on my own. Anti virus utility has deteriorate than the virus themselves.

I use SUPER ANTI SPY-WARE FREE EDITION they scan way down deep into the drives and memories and get rid of all the nasty,s. best of all they just want a donation for their services.

Also have a THE SHIELD ANTI VIRUS PROTECTION.
this one i pay $35.00 a year which is cheap for a whole year
of 24/7 of protection. If one virus remover don,t get them all the other one will get the rest.This protection scans by it self when i set the date, the other protection i run manually daily.

I use McAfee and I have used Norton Anti virus also, but McAfee I notice does more for my computer and is cheaper. Good Luck with whatever you choose to get.

Mcafee Internet Security....hands down is the best! I've used em all and if ur tired of pop ups and programs that say they work, but don't then look no further!

Personally, I've had really good results with AVG as opposed to things such as Norton and McAfee.
