PC Magazine had an article in it last month about that very question. What is the beast available to protect all of your needs with the best price.
Norton Internet Security 2007 got a PC Mag seal of approval. It ranked very high in ease of use, price, and high marks in blocking the four major areas that effect your computer such as keylogging, Anti Spam, Anti Virus, and Spyware.
I currently have Norton Internet Security 2006 and I am going to keep using Norton for as long as I have a computer. It is the best choice in my opinion.

Actually, if you read the list at this site you will see what program performed the best. This is the site of an European Independent testing service. The companies submit their programs for testing and get no special treatment.
The number two program is Active Virus Shield. The reason for the exact same percentage of the #1 program is because it uses the #1 program. On top of that AVS is free.

I've used before:
McAfee....stopped renewing because the software takes up too much of your system's resources.
Norton....gotten a worm with this one before...and also a memory hog to run it and other system resources are slowed down.
But have found an article on recommendations by PC Magazine Feb 20th 2007 issue...."Best Free Softwares for 2007" :
Both editor and the staff have tested and ranked it high...
AVG 7.5 Anti-Virus (Free!), and also AVG Anti-Spyware (Trial, then pay after 30days), both of these programs have a smaller amount of diskspace requirements and also they are faster in scanning than most...scheduler setups for automatic downloads of updates to keep them up with latest protection against current threats. Try it out, I've used it for about a month now and I've been just fine! I tested myself with comparison scans and none of three different scanners have never found anything...

I use Norton.. but some of my friends said, it makes computer's performance slow.. and i think it does.
Seeing those other folks using Nod32 & McAfee.. i think its quite good.
By the way, there's free download for AVG Avast antivirus.
* But NO IDEA :p which one is the best one.

McAfee. I have heard it is the best in the world many times. I have been using it for three years and have never been let down.
I had Nortons before and Kaspersky I would not rate them. I got a worm with Nortons.

Norton was given top marks for easy to use and blocks many internet threats and is always running so if it detects anything it will destory the threat my friend's uncle installed Norton and he works for IT so my friend recommended it and when I was youger my ICT teacher uses Norton so further more proof that Norton is brillant I use it as well and it protects me well.

I do not think there is just one. Its better to have at least two on your computer and use an online scanner like Bitdefender. Avast and AVG antivirus seem pretty good.
