When I try to watch certain shows online they won't play. I try to download updated players but I can't. What can I do to remedy the situation?

Should I turn the modem to off when not in use?

My computer came with Norton firewall and virus detection. Will this be good enough. Could I use the security features from the ISP (Earthlink), will they work as well?

What additional security measures should I look into?

This is for a stand alone (non-networked) home computer.

If answering please assume I am a complete newb here.

I am the new network admin here and am new to surfcontrol. I have read parts of the manual and to be honest u need a degree in surf control to understand the darned thing.
It doesnt seem to see users at all, but my predecessor has added rules for individuals so i know it can be done somehow.
Heeeeeeelp, pleeeeeasssee.

i need to hide my ip on my computer . due to some one keeps getting pic of me and my children that no one else have eve3r seen and posting them on my space . i took pic yesterday and it already been posted on my space and when i contacted myspace they said that my ip address is being watched . not sure i understand but what can i buy to protect my computer. by the way hve done closed the account once with myspace now i cnnot do it because i don't know the address they used

My problem is that we have a host computer that is quite some distance away from the remaining hosts on the network. We wish to restrict or limit activities that can be performed on the far away host computer in order to ensure that no illegalities are carried out through the host computer.
It may interest you to know the followings :
we use windowXP
we link the server to the network with the aid of a 3com 24 ports switch
we use cable modem server
