Don't trust pop-up ads. That's all they are. just ads. They want to sell you something. Never click on them to open them. Get a good pop-up blocker to prevent that. Yahoo toolbar contains a good pop-up blocker as well.
Get * AVG Anti-Virus Free
* AVG Anti-Spyware Free

Really good free product. Be sure to update virus definitions daily once you have installed each and run them
That should help you a lot. Though I doubt that you really have viruses, this way you can thoroughly check to be sure and get rid or quarantine any the scan may find.
Happy computing is having to worry less. I hope this helps.

A lot of the advice so far is total rubbish.
Download from grisoft avg antivirus and antispyware.
Do online scans with symantec online scanner, trend micro housecall and maybe u could try panda too, but i think panda want u to pay them to actually fix anything - the other 2 will do it for free.
If you still have trouble or are worried go to merijn.org and download hijackthis. The install it and do a scan and save a log file - do not let it delete anything anything (donmt worry unless u tell it to "fix" something. Then you can post th elog in one of the many hijack this forums where an expert will help u free of charge.
To my knowledge there is not one anti virus or anit spywareb that catchjes it all - u need to use a couple or more to catch everything and even then u are never totally safe.
General rule is that most free softwares u download to fix viruses/popups etc will actually give u viruses and pop ups -not fix them. If you are ever in doubt then google it and you will see if it is good or bad.
Having said that avg and hijackthis are both well respected in the "free" community. but dont take my word for it cos u dont know who i am - google it instead!
BTW - get a firewall too - zonealarm is a good free one, but again google it first.

The pop-up is a marketing ploy. I wouldn't trust any software purchased through something like that.
Like everyone else says AVI Soft at www.avast.com is a good way to get free virus protection that auto-updates. The free version doesn't look for things other than viruses though, you'll need to get a spyware killer like Spybot www.spybot.com to get rid of those.

AVG or Avast Anti Virus. i for my area desire Avast. I put in viruses on a working laptop or laptop and tried distinctive AV suggestions, Avast scored the utmost. AVG wasn't some distance in the back of in spite of the shown fact that.

That pop-up might be spyware itself. There's free programs for both virus and spyware protection.
For virus protection programs: AVG(good), Avast(haven't used much), Antivir (didn't like personally) but they're free.
For antispyware programs (all good): Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot search and destroy, Arovax anti-spyware. Also all free.
Try these programs and let us know if the problem still exists.

what you're getting is scare mongering trying to get you to buy junk when the chances are you don't have any viruses (ask your self how can a website know what I have on this computer weather its viruses or programs) this is nearly always caused by spyware-adware so get some free antispyware/adware for free I suggest Ad-aware you can get it here http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
and spybot search and destroy get that here http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
after you've installed them update them via the net and run a scan with both (not at the same time) and kill anything they find

They're call adware, trojans that tell you you have viruses and then ask you to pay for a program to delete them.
goto microsoft.com and search for 'windows malicious software removal' and windows defender, then install the free editions of avg and zone alarm, sholud sort all your problems for free :)

the pop ups are scaremongering I get them even though I've got a good AV programme, but if you don't have anti virus software you could be in danger. Go the downloads.com and download the FREE AVG anti virus programme.

You need to download your home sites pop up protection, home site or your dsl home page. Yahoo has one on their task bar. The site below scans and deletes virus's for free. To avoid getting virus's dont click on links or take files from ppl. Pop ups arent virus's; you just need to pop up bar.
