I obviously know the safest bet is entering secure websites from secure wireless networks. But what about from unsecured networks?

A friend of mine has recently had her msn account 'hacked' into. I think that whoever is using it knew her password so I dont think it's proper hacking. The trouble is that she's now using this address to abuse and harrass people on my friends contact list and they think it's her.

It's been causing my friend a whole lot of trouble with people who think that it's her being abusive, we need to stop it before it get's even more out of hand. I was wondering if anyone could help with either ...

a) finding out how to get the account back even though the security question and password have been changed.

or

b) is there a way to find out who's doing it? I read on the internet about ip addresses but I didn't quite understand it.

This person is still talking to people we know using my friends msn address so if it's any help we could get her into a conversation and then try to check the ip address ( if we knew how to) as I gather that's what you have to do.

TO SEE IF MY FIREWALL IS TURNED ON ,YOU SEE MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN ACTING STRANGE,CHANGING THE HOME PAGE AND THE SIZE OF THE WRITING, AND WHEN I TRY TO RUN ANTI-SPY IT WON'T OPEN MOST OF THE TIME ,AND WHEN IT DOES IT COMES UP WITH SOMETHING CALLED HIJACKER AND COM.COM AND BRAVENET,ETC ETC ,WHEN I OPEN THE SECURITY CENTRE AND CLICK WINDOWS FIREWALL,IT SAYS THAT IT CANNOT OPEN AS IT WAS CORRUPTED ,WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS AND CAN I REACTIVATE MY SECURITY SETTINGS BACK TO THE WAY THEY WERE?

I get the following error when I am connected to the internet and after this is seen the connection goes off and if I double click the network connections icon it pops up and disappears. I can neither disconnect or reconnect. This also stops some other services related to the network in the server. Have tried all anti viruses and anti-spywares with no effect. Tried re-formattting and reloading but it doesnt work. I have handcrafted software's free proxy running on the server. can anyone help pls?
The error is something like ' Faulting application svchost.exe and faulting module is netapi32.dll

Some virus cannot be healed so they are moved in the Virus Vault but I really wanted to delete them... so I pressed delete. It says that the viruses were deleted from my virus vault. My question is... is the virus deleted from my computer or just deleted in my virus vault and not in the whole system?

I had my firewall (Outpost Firewall Pro ver. 4.0.1005.7229 (590)) tested on pcflank.com & the results were :TCP "ping" : non-stealthed, TCP NULL : non-stealthed, TCP FIN : non-stealthed, TCP XMAS : non-stealthed, UDP : stealthed . The firewall is on stealth mode & the site (pcflank) has recommended Outpost firewall. I've tested other firewalls like Kerio, Black ice, sygate, kaspersky, jetico & the results were same. The results were same with win98 & XP SP2 . I'm not using a router, but i'm a part of my ISP's network so if their router is to be considered. Any suggestions ???

getting the odd pop up in corner but if i click on them they don,t come back have done a few scan,s 2 problem,s found with norton it tell,s me they have been removed but still getting pop up the next time i use computer
