Can someone explain to me (in simple terms!) what a proxy server is and why my teenage son would be looking up how to set one up/tap into one?

that I was low on memory and that it would shut down within the countdown. It was really odd and I'd like to know if was a virus or was it having trouble because it's an older computer with lower memory, My Norton says it's virus free.

it wont let me go on the internet and an error page comes up everytime i try. i have avg and scanned the computer on safe mode but that hasnt helped. i cant download another anti virus program because i cant use the internet. ive tried deleting the file but an error message comes up and says it is being used by someone else. any ideas???? pleasseeeee

I can't remember the password and so I can't delete the screen name...I'm on the free service so AOL won't help.

Whenever a new browser opens instead of going to my home page a page that says "Internet Security" pops up! The url is http://asafetyproject.com Is this a virus itself or do I have to install some kind of protection? If yes, what kinds are free?

I have a netgear router taht has its own personal firewall. When i log on to my router it has a page that says block sites. On that page it has a box where i enter all the sites,or keywords i want to block. Such as if i type youtube it will block anything with youtube. So when i enter some keywords it still doesnt block it. What do i do? i need to get certain sites blocked fast.

recently when i turn on computer, Mozilla won't load properly. that itself was after an update, server won't load, or icon won't open. then icons won't open appl. I CLEANED EVERYTHING..and in safe mode. i have to do tons of system restores and sometime Yahoo messenger won't open. and, my windows to approve programs won't even load half of the time. any suggestions?

Please help. When turning on my Toshiba Satellite Laptop, I get this error message and "An Invalid Parameter was passed to a service or function". When I click OK, the computer goes into a constant loop. I cannot get to the Password sign in screen or start in safe mode. If I use my recovery disc, it will erase the hard drive. I have alot of music I don't want to lose. But, I am willing to sacrifice if need be. If I do erase the hard drive with the recovery disc, will the virus be gone? I understand this condition is caused by the sasser worm/trojan. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

my friend has a virus which she got from a link sayin sumpin like "omg is that you in this pic" then a link to "http://hothotmodels.net/photo13/php". the virus just seems to send that same message to all her contacts repeatdly. iv tried runnin many antivirus programs which keep findin trojans, which have then been removed but the problem still happens. ne1 know how to get rid of it?? iv looked all over the web for help and cant find much about how to get rid of it.

i got an email supposedly from a friend who sent me a special postcard. [postcard.org by the way, DO NOT OPEN] I clicked onto the link within in the email. while the page was loading my norton popped up saying there was a virus and it can't be fixed. I immediately stopped the page BERFORE it completed it's loading, got offline and did a full virus scan. the scan said no virus found, so did I actually get the virus still?

When close explorer, i can still hear advertisements running in the backround .When I look at my processes I see explorer and iexplorer still running, and the iexplorer is running at 150,000K. I tried scanning it with Norton and MOD32 and im still having the problem and pop-ups. (fyi, i deleted norton before getting MOD32) Nothing is working, how about restoring my computer? Will I lose all info on work software?
