Whenever a new browser opens instead of going to my home page a page that says "Internet Security" pops up! The url is http://asafetyproject.com Is this a virus itself or do I have to install some kind of protection? If yes, what kinds are free?

asafetyproject.com is highly dangerous hacker application. Usually asafetyproject.com may log keyboard activity of the user and take snapshots of the system. asafetyproject.com uses stealth installation and its removal is very difficult.

Automatic download and installation of a rogue antispyware product. Presence of blinking icons next to computer clock. The icons can generate balloon messages claiming infection. The icons usually looks like a circle with a (?) or a 'danger' triangle with an exclamation mark inside.

Anything that has sabotaged your home page is dangerous, intrusive, and must be avoided. Re-establish your home page using whatever option your browser provides for doing so, and use some programme like Spybot to make sure that asafetyproject.com hasn't left some spyware on your computer.

I believe its just an ad. If you want free and good virus protection, go look up "grisoft" on yahoo, they have a free virus scan.

Do a google search for 'smitfraudfix'. This is a free tool and in most cases will help you remove the zlob trojan that hijacked your computer to http://asafetyproject.com.
