We just got rid of Norton and got McAfee antivirus... I'm trying to install it and it doesn't want to work! The installation box didn't pop up, so i tried the alternate instructions, which is to type something into the run dialog box...it says it can't find it! please help me.

for several weeks I have been hearing weird things. at random times during the day, I will hear (out of my speakers) a sort of distorted male voice saying "all systems ready" I checked my sounds, and it isn't there. McAfee finds nothing. Neither do adaware, and spybot.

Then today i heard it 3 different times. then a second ago something weirder. I heard a dial tone, someone dialing some numbers, and then the beginning sound of when someone uses dialup. I don't use dialup.... and it wasn't that.

It was like someone had picked up a phone and was calling someone, with the dialup sound on the end.

what is this?! why is it happening and how can I get it to stop?

I was surfing on the net and all of a sudden there was a popup and it was like porn, it was weird, and then i logged onto my email msn account and on there there was a random chat window and it popped for 2 secs with websites on it and closed. This has been happening for the past 2 days. I do not know what it is, I need some help to clean out the computer of any viruses. Any idea of any free software or what i can do to clean it out.

I have had "junk mail" sent in by fans, saying it was secure, and some with porno attachments without the senders' knowledge. How do I set my computer to protect it from these incidences?

About twice a day I receive junk email in my inbox. I get so angry that I want to get revenge on these spammers. So lately I have been taking their email addresses and signing them up for every possible daily email newsletter. I know that their emails are probably just "decoys", but still, maybe I'll get lucky and actually annoy one of them.

Is there any other good revenge out there? Any special websites or what?

I am a small business owner, a major new client told me that they met with their internal Info Sys security team looking for me to provide them feedback on 1) how their data is handled once received, how data is stored, and how data is purged

The client will be sending me either email spreadsheets or data on CD's not sure yet. What can I report to them so I will look knowlegable on the quesitons they want to know. It is just me in the company, so i will keep the data on my hard drive, reivew it and when done with it purge it - is there some document I can send them that tells them this, in a more professional way? Or, is there something else I should be telling them?

i only see it in My Documents when i open an MSWord file. it somehow replicates the file and you can see its name as ~wrl.then a number (example: ~wrl.234). i get one of these everytime i save. im not sure what its been doing to my files but i've noticed that it changes the way a paragraph looks in a document (like if theres an alignment, it will be a different alignment when you open a saved file). help!

i have the net connection . one day my system shows that the windows updates are ready to install click the balloon.
i clicked then some functions happened and finally asked me to click finish button. i clicked .the next day when i started before entering into the windows the dialog box appears in that
( you may be a victim of software counterfeiting)
with this the tab (resolve now or resolve later) appears
please help what can i do for that i dont want any dialog
box to be open before going to windows
when iam finding help of net it asked me to check the product key of windowsxp what i installed with the product key
given by the genuine microsoft software

ok, i took everyone's advice. i was having problems with icons, starting appl, freezing in apps, and no logon windows for approval of programs. now today, no problems after tons od sys. restores. i CLEANED EVERYTHING AND DIAGNOSED EVERYTHING..I FOUND NOTHING. so, i am thinking if the problem persists do i do a destructive system restore and use my external drive to reboot programs to solve this problem? i am so sick of every other day with these issues and diagnostics and all my security saying there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG...CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? thanks!-----frustrated!
