I do not want to be recommended to any websites or weblinks, I am only interested in having a full understanding on what it is and how to remove it.

I know about software and firewall solutions, I am more interested in settings and configuration (for example: altering host files, using block lists, blocking scripts and spyware, etc. ) Please share your experiences and wisdom.

My subscription to WinAntiVirus has expired. I am reluctant to renew, not happy with this one. It takes too long to run the scan and slows all other applications down, e.g. browser responses, email etc. I need to install an alternative immediately to have protection. Serious tried/tested info please.

I have a few questions about the firewall you may suggest.

1. Is it as good as ZoneAlarm?
2. Is it available at download.com? Id like to try it from a place I
trust.
3. Does it require that I uninstall any other antispyware / virus
software? If so then I wont be needing it. Unless it needs to
remove mcafee.
4. Im going to do a background check before I do anything,
maybe you can tell me if there are any user reviews from
experienced users?

Can anyone help me, I need to allow cookies into my computer.
I can remember choosing to NOT allow them not long ago, thinking it was a safer option, but I can't remember where the option was so I can allow them again.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of an up-to-date & trustworthy site is to receive weekly newsletters to warn you of the latest hoax, worms, trojans, and the like?? The only sites I've found so far, are monthly letters, and tell how to use anti-virus and update your pc. I'd like to know what's out there. I just bought my pc and I'd like to know.......any info. you can provide will be greatly admired!!

I found out on my own search, that there is a e-mail hoax going around, saying, "returned" or "unable to deliver". It has a something that attaches itself to the components on your pc, and can "render it useless". according to reports. Myself and others i know, kept getting e-mails returned, sometimes a day later! It would be nice if there were some sort of weekly newsletter, that would notify you and let a person know when something like this is going on. This hoax just started about 4 or 5 days ago.

If anyone knows where an up- to- date & trustworthy site, is to get weekly new letters, of the latest hoax, worms, trojans, and the like, it would so be nice. I'd be forever grateful. Thanks.......

I have been studying wardriving and wireless security for education purposes, but there is one seemingly simple thing that I have not been able to find the answer to anywhere.

From what I understand, many routers have a default password, and there are plenty of lists of default passwords available. However, I have not been able to figure out how to log in with a default password.

For example, say there is a router broadcasting its ssid as linksys, one would assume that it is a linksys router with a default admin/admin password. However, how would one go about actually accessing this router?
