Hmm, it sounds like you're just trying to change a password for a user. In that case I can help.

First when you boot the PC and it gets to the Users Menu, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice. The menu will change to another one where you have to type in a user and password. The default name for the user should be Administrator. If your mom wasn't THAT smart about this whole mess, then she didn't set an administrator password - just hit Enter. IF no password is there, then you will get into Windows.

After it loads, then do the following:
Start > Control Panel > click on View Classic Menus on the left side of the screen > Users Accounts icon

When there, you will be able to remove the passwords on the accounts.

Hello Lil 'sita,

If you had a Macintosh you could have Instant user switching. You would just go up to the menu at the top right where your Mom's name is, click on that and drop down to your name, put in your password and the screen spins to your desktop settings. Pretty easy.

Your Mom's is still there, but you can't access it and she can't access yours except for some special shareable folder in your user folder.

You didn't really mention what type of laptop that you're using, but I guess that it's probably a Windows PC. I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help.
