Its free for 30 days

You can also use these that are completely free. After you install any of them, update them to get the full affect.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

Your browser, Internet Explorer has a virus. You can either
A. do a system Restore (under Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools, then System restore to a previous date, about 2 days ago).

or B. visit http://www.spybot.info/ for a free, easy program to remove "common" spyware from you computer. Safe and reliable. It may not get all of it, but it will speed up your computer and fix the main problems.

God Bless!!

To keep your computer safe from viruses you have to use an anti-virus program, like Norton, AVG, Kaspersky, Avast, Antivir, McAfee, Bit Defender. Some are free and others have trial versions which can be found here:

Install avast at the link below. Once installed and rebooted, have it do a complete virus scan and go to bed... it takes a long time.

Yeah, it's hijack.

Do what classic, says first.

Let's face it, computer viruses are everywhere. If you don't have a virus infection now chances are that you know a person who does! This article is a general tutorial on how to remove viruses. I have personally used this method to remove over 30,000 infections from client computers over the past few years. The best thing about it is that you don't have to spend money to do it! Read on...

Let's begin with describing what a virus is:

A virus is a program of piece of code that is installed and runs on a computer without the users knowledge. Viruses cannot install themselves, they must be run by a human, mostly likely from an executable file. Viruses can use up system resources, replicate themselves, allow a user remote access to the infected computer, as well as destroy personal data, hardware and software. Many viruses are spread via email. Viruses are different than spyware. (Learn more about spyware here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com)

Next, what are some of the signs that a computer might have a virus infection?

How do I know if my computer is infected? What are the signs of a virus?

Sometimes you can't even tell you have a virus! That's part of the problem. But other signs include the following:

* system reboots? - Does your system spontaneously restart? This could be a virus or, if could be a legitimate problem with other hardware or software. That is one of the tricks of viruses. Sometimes they mimic 'normal' system problems therefore leaving the user unware of the problem.

* system slowdowns? - Has your system mysterious begun to get slower and slower as time passes? You might have a virus? or maybe not? It can't hurt to check!

* computer will not boot (start)? - You might have a virus. Try starting in Safe Mode (press the F8 key when booting), if you can boot all might not be lost. There is more to it then mentioned here but, search our resources page for more help on how to repair your own computer for free.

* see strange messages appearing when you turn on your computer?

- I don't mean strange system generated messages, they have their own level of strangeness, I mean something that seems out of place - something not quite right.

* files disappearing? - Was there a program, or file on your computer one day but not there the next and you are the only user? You might have a virus. Visit our free repair tools section to download antivirus software.

There are many different types of viruses:

* Boot Virus - affects the boot sector of a floppy or hard disk (hard drive). The boot sector is a crucial part of the system since it holds information about how a computer boots (is started) up. A boot virus does not infect files, it infects the disks on which they reside.

* Macro Virus - enter a system by exploiting vulnerabilities n macros. Microsoft Word (.doc file extension), Excel spreadsheets (.xls file extension) and many more...

* Polymorphic Virus - changes itself (actually, encrypts, or encodes itself) so as to be hidden from scans. When it is going to deliver it's damage it decrypts, does what it is designed to do and goes back into hiding.

* Resident Virus - hides in RAM memory, from where it can control all operations of the system.

* Trojan Horse - is a master of deception. It usually hides in software that appears to be a legitimate application. Once opened by the user a Trojan can do anything from delete files, and destroying system information to less malicious things as making your cd rom open and close and changing your desktop icons around. Trojans are famous for creating a backdoor in the infected computer. This backdoor allows users remote access which can be used to control the computer for whatever use the controller wishes. Trojans do not reproduce by infecting other files, which is one of the major differences between a trojan and a worm. One of the 'newer' types of Trojans include ransomware - read about it here http://www.malwaresolutions.com/what_is_ransomware.html

* Worms - are a sub-class of viruses. They spread from computer to computer and have the ability to move from computer to computer across networks without the help of a human. A worm exploites vulnerabilities in software and operating systems using existing files and transport systems already in place on the infected machine. One of the most dangerous thing about worms is their ability to replicate. An infected system could be used to not only send one copy of the worm out onto the Internet but possibly thousands of copies. In the meantime, draining the infected computer of valuable system resources.

Now for the good part - how to remove viruses from an infected computer:

Backup your personal data (to find out how see this page - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/how_to_backup_files.html)

The first thing you will need is anti-virus software! Download, install and update AVG Anti-Virus - it's free and can be found here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/tools_anti_virus.html

It's easy to install and use - to read about how to install AVG go here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/how_to_install_avg_anti_virus.html

Then start the computer is Safe Mode - (usually this is accomplished by tapping the F8 key on your keyboard while the computer is starting up) - read more about starting a computer in Safe Mode here - http://www.malwaresolutions/how_to_start_in_safe_mode.html

Then run AVG and do a full system scan, let it find and remove any viruses it finds.

One other thing too, if you are running Windows XP, you should also remove your System Restore files. Viruses love to hide in them. To learn how to temporarily disable System Restore see this page - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/disabling_system_restore.html

You might want to try using MSCONFIG as a tool to help disable the malware - see more about MSCONFIG here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/how_to_use_msconfig.html

Do your self a favor - download, install and use Mozilla FireFox (web browser), instead of Internet Explorer - it's much more secure! You can find it here - http://www.malwaresolutions.com/tools_browsers.html

Goo luck!

Download Spybot from http://www.download.com

It's free and very efficient. And while you're there, also download AVG 7.5 Antivirus programme. This too is free and a very powerful antivirus programme.
