A neighbour was putting up a cable right around the outside wall of his house the other day and i asked him what it was for. He said it was a makeshift antenna to pick up other peoples wireless internet.

I presume he meant he was hijacking our wireless internet connections - i know i can 'see' 3 other connection from my pc.

is there any way i can tell if my wireless connection is being hijacked?

i'm not happy about this doley freeloading off me when he is perfectly able to go out and work, he just chooses to sponge of the social.

My McAfee virus scan found two suspicious programs:

C:\HP\BIN\KILLWIND.EXE

C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{followed by a whole bunch of letters and numbers}.EXE

I removed the programs because I didn't recognize them. Are they spyware or malware? Or are they good programs that I should restore?

I did a scan of my computer and it found a file it identified as "Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}". The name of the file is called paticyoq.exe. I had my antivirus program move it to the virus chest, but I could find no mention of it on any of the search engines. Anyone heard of paticyoq.exe?

I have been using PC Cillin 2007 but the other day I installed Spyware Doctor and it found a Key Logger! PC Cillin 2007 was meant to have an all in one system to protect me, but it failed big time! I have been reading about Zonealarm 7 and it sounds good. Should I just max-out my security levels on PC Cillin 2007 and use Spyware Doctor, or should I change over to Zonealarm 7? Many thanks.

I get many viruses when I check my quarantine for my anti-virus. Is it possible for someone to send you a virus directly to your IP address? If so, how do you change your IP address if your internet is part of a pack with the phone bill.

I recently ended up on the DriveCleaner website by mistake. It attempts to convince you that your computer needs scanning, which I know it doesn't. But what worried me is that its fake version of the My Computer window not only contained my IP address, but pinpointed me geographically to the city I am in! Is it guessing? If not, can I prevent online malware from knowing precisely where I am like this?

I am using Windows XP, connected via a LinkSys wireless router to BT Broadband connection. I am using Firefox and Norton Internet Security, and foolishly thought this would protect me. When I go to GRC ShieldsUP, all port tests come back stealth green... so... what gives?
