Unlike most operating systems (Solaris, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD etc), Microsoft Windows operating systems are very prone to malware. The Windows security model has been improved slightly in Vista, but it is still playing catch up. You'll still need anti-virus software and to play the usual games with adware and spyware. Many of the "security" features touted by Windows Vista, such as Vista's "DRM" took just a few hours to crack.

The new Vista, is the most safest OS released. It includes stronger firewalls, bitdefender, extra security features...and more.
All OS's are prone to viruses, malware, spyware, etc: Just obtain the right software, keep it updated, and ur gurd to go;)

i have a vista and there are so many security options and i have not got a single virus. on windows xp you are attacked by a spyware virus on average 4mins into your internet session without any anti-virus software. vista comes with windows defender and firewall and downloads updates automatically.

to answer your your question. Yes your pc will be prone to virus, like all o/s. it will be just a little harder for folks to write code that can avoid the more granular security od vista.
yes trojans are still available for vista

the thing is, as with all things microsoft they come with bugs, one guy claims to have already cracked vista, plus it is a rip of of mac OSX in a lot of ways, and although it has a lot of security features, they are largley marketing gimmicks that will offer protection but are no good on their own you need more protection than that, and i don't like they way they got rid of 16bit applications, grrr, that annoys me as i use them a lot.
