Some antivirus software lets you individually scan a file.
I use AVG antivirus and it lets me rightmouse click a file and scan that file for virus. Other programs do this too.

Having the paid version of Limewire will not make the software you stole using Limewire any less likely to be infected.

Almost all anti-virus apps will allow you to right click a file to scan it on an individual basis. Some anti-spyware apps will also let you do the same (A-Squared, Ewido are just 2). Any file downloaded with any P2P file sharing program should be scanned with both an A-V and an A-S before opening.

Good luck.

Doing what these guys have told you is good as it will protect you when you open all dowloaded files.
What i suggest you do now is turn on your anti virus software to do a complete scan of all incoming data files and downloads, this way you will be able to open them with confidence.
I wouldn't wory too much about viruses too much even though they are a hazard, i would get a good anti spyware program
as the hackers can do more damage through bad cookies.
they use this information to design newer and more viscious viruses, so if you stop them getting the info in the first place, it will make the internet a safer placefor all.

Right-click on the downloaded file and you should see your Anti-Virus listed. Click it and your AV will test the file.

Open your antivirus and look for manual scan. Make sure you know the directory of the file you wish to scan.
