I would suggest AVG antivirus. It is a free home version that I have running on all 3 pc's in my home. In my opinion the BEST free antivirus on the net. I have posted the link to thier site below.

I also purchased a program called system mechanic 6 professional for $39.95 and is by far the best purchase I have made for my pc's. Great all in one program for keeping your computer free of the things that bog it down.

AVG is NOT free. Their cut down version finished in January. You now only get 1 month free trial before you need to register. It is however, the one of the BEST antivirus products around.

Go to www.fsecomputing.co.uk and download a free evaluation version. This way you will get support also as opposed to no support if you download it from other sites.

If you want a highly dependable anti virus software,Kaspersky [the
original version]is the one you should go for. For a free one,you
can download Yahoo!toolbar wherein you have Norton Spyware.

Please use the search tool before asking questions that are making the Security category boring every day.

Thank you.
I believe AVG AntiVirus Free Edition is the program you are referring to, and it does have a resident shield function. Many people will have posted the link on here.

Please DO NOT go for AVG though its free. Its the worst antivirus out there. Its not able to detect new viruii as it appears. I would suggest that you go for Avira or AntiVir. Both are free and excellent. Avast does a fair job too.

Hope this helps.
