the internal virus data base is the definitions that are downloaded in the anti virus files you use.

In order for an Anti-virus program to recognize a program as a virus, it needs to know what lines of code to look for.

In other words, the virus program will not identify something as a virus unless it recognizes some of the actions the program attempts to run on your computer.

The database version is generally the date the database was last updated.
