i have had this tricky backdoor (trojan?) variant/virus on my computer that seems to outsmart and mess up my computer by eating up my memory (256 mb) and any program/software i add to my computer to detect and/or quarantine/delete it. I have tried McAfee - Windows Live OneCare - Windows Defender - Lavasoft - alot of different programs. Are there certain steps that I have to take to get rid of it (i.e., turn off system restore - install program). Is there a certain order I must do this? (i.e. install hardware, turn off system restore, restart, turn on system restore, et al). How do I detect and get rid of this nuisance. Thanking you in advance.

I have MS XP Pro SP2 operating system and this is the first time I am trying to install anti-virus softwares, like norton and mcafee, but everytime I tried to install these softwares, the initial dialogue box disappears in a few seconds.

A friend of my daughter called the house but my daughter's cell phone number showed up on the caller ID. The phone was right there on the counter so it could have not possibly been used to make the call. He identified himself accidentally on the call, so I know it was him.

I just spend 80 dollars for symmetic Internet security and system works which includes a firewall, antivirus, spyware/adware protection, spam blocker, Norton clean up, etc. I also set it on a timer which fragments, scans for viruses and other security risks, deletes all cache and temporary files, etc every night when I don’t use the computer.

My hard drive recently burned out and i lost everything i was running Nortions only it was not a licenes copy,my brother-in-law intalled it.And he is almost imposable to find these days so i found this free anti virus site and downloaded the program right away i noticed a considarable diffrance in the speed of my computer.It runs really slow and i suspect it is the anti virus program i am running called Avast.Has any one eles had this priblem?

My problem is that now every two and ten minutes i get a pop up warning me that there is a potential problem and when i click it i get a advertisement for antispyware software. One website is antispywarebox.com and the other is http://antispynet.com/. I do not have any antivirus protection which is stupid and the only spyware remover i have is from the yahoo toolbar. i have a couple questions one i what is that problem called ,two if i purchase norton antivirus, will it remove the problem and run free and the last question is how can i fix that problem if antivirus wont work. Thank you very very much for any help in this problem

How do I register or contact Norton Protection Centre. Protection came with the laptop but its running out, I cant renew as I found out frustratingly until I register ???? Ive tried every help and button available but nothing.
