I don't know if this happened when one of our kids was on it, our girls go on My Space & Yahoo, my nephew goes to Cartoon network for games and sometimes they all do homework through the net. The day this happened there was a bad lighting storm. We also have in home networking with Comcast high speed the other pc's work fine. I bought a spyware remover program but can not load it. Also can this problem go from this desktop through the high speed conection to our other laptops? The screen says we have spyware and to click here to get a removal program that they want you to pay for,but that screen does not work either and it also says active desk top is shut down. This was a cheap walmart pc that is 3 yrs old. I want to throw it out, but my husband said fix it or the kids will want to be on our exspensive laptops.

My anti-virus keeps warning me I have a Trojan, yet when I do the scan, it detects it, but never actually deletes it, it keeps coming back. Have ran bout 4 other software, and still the same. Any advice??

I changed my mail and messenger password and someone is still signing me in on another device. I don't know how, but someone knows the answer to my test question. (the one they ask you when you forget your password) I've had my account for 6 years or so, and I don't want to make another one. I'm happy with things the way they are. I'd appreciate an answer or a link to someone who has an answer.

Apparently I'm being monitored. (according to this AVP Warning that appears when I try to get on the internet) It tells me that I'm being investigated.
Is there a way to get it to stop appearing?
And yes I get the point..."Stop looking at porn!"

Yahoo Answers is a great tool from yahoo. But we have people using "I'm so lonely", "Looking for a date" as questions? this is the start, i can tell.

Some people repeat their questions over and over and there are trashy responses to a lot of questions by people trying to be comedians. as soon as porn and virus runners starts to advertise in this thing, i am out. (what's to say they aren't already here) but like msn chatrooms, like chat rooms in general, answers is at threat from those who don't care for answers to questions. what can be done to stop meltdown?

keep it fun, but don't let it turn into a trash site! what do you think?

It would be great if someone can explain this with a complete small example.

Spamming is UNETHICAL. By spamming people you are stealing. You are stealing time and you are stealing bandwidth. I once read an article about a company that distributes software that will ping the servers of known spamers. If enough people use the software eventually the spamers own bandwidth will be eaten up and then they won't be able to spam others. Thus Spaming The Spamers. Is this Ethical?

Hi guys, I have been using the anti-virus software Prevx1 for a couple of days now. It seems to be a very effective programme, but I need independent advice on it. My worry is if it is a malware, its potential to harm is boundless as it scans all programmes executing on my computer and it even knows that I posted this question to Yahoo! Answers.

After reading all the complaints about Norton and how much it slows down your PC, I'm thinking of getting rid of it and getting something else instead. Any suggestions?

I think it is a spyware ad that won't go away, Malware, it puts up an occasional popup to try and scare me into buying their product. Other buttons on this Protection Bar toolbar are: scan for spyware/remove adware popups/spam protection/security test. Problem, I can't remove this toolbar.

I was recently given a brand new dell laptop, because I am moving out and going to a University, so I needed my own computer. The computer I have at home is slow and filled with spyware, mostly due to my little sister and all the crap she downloads. I want to take really good care of my new laptop, so does anyone have any advice? What should I avoid (such as, kinds of sites)? What programs (free or inexpensive) should I use to protect the laptop? How can I maintain its speed? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
