Hello, I have a toolbar called "protection bar" that I can't remove, can you help?

Question

I think it is a spyware ad that won't go away, Malware, it puts up an occasional popup to try and scare me into buying their product. Other buttons on this Protection Bar toolbar are: scan for spyware/remove adware popups/spam protection/security test. Problem, I can't remove this toolbar.

1/ Close down all browser windows

2/ Start, Run, Regedit

- Local Machine, Software, Microsoft, Internet Explorer, Explorer Bars

&

- Local Machine, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version, Explorer, Browser Helper Objects

These two keys are where you should delete all entries to get rid of all additional toolbars.

Preferably, do not install any again - none of them are of any use, and more often than not they have a detrimental effect on your PC.

While you are at it, look at this registry key:
- Local Machine, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version, Run

and investigate (using your preferred search engine) each entry and remove any which are adware/spyware/etc...

Also, I recommend installing Firefox - this browser allows you to create multiple tabs, so that at any one time you can have several sites open - this is MUCH better than having all sorts of stupid useless toolbars clogging up your browser.

Hi, protection bar is a disgusting and infamous spyware/virus. perhaps you can install Mcafee or Norton to protect your computer and remove the virus, but you need to pay for them.

I also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus to run in your browser, because the virus can only run on IE.

firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spyware, adware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

go to start button, then control panel, then add/remove software, and scroll down the list of installed programs and see if the toolbar is located there. If so, click on the program and click remove.
