gave permission for this person to have my yahoo address and they also have yahool address. we both have messenger. now i don't want this person to bother me anymore and i am haveing to be hidden from everyone so as he can't buzz me. what do i do?

go into preferences (Ctrl+Shift+P) and add them to your ignore list. They can send you whatever but you will not receive anything.

Click on the ignore button, and that will make ALL of his messages disappear before you even get to see them. Either that, or you can right click on his name, and a pop up menu will appear, and it will show "delete" -- just click that- it will remove him from your list, but not prevent him from contacting you. The best way is the ignore method.
Consider this, though-- if you tell him specifically that you no longer want to chat with him, and he contacts you AFTER that, it would be considered harassment, which is a violation of the Yahoo Terms of Service-- something you could report him for.

To delete someone off the messenger list-
You can right click on the name of the person in the messenger list and then click delete
But
That may not help as everytime you log in they will see you online as they still have you in their messenger lists.
so inorder for them to not be able to see right clik on the name or id in the messenger list and then go to stealth settings and click on appear permanently offline to Yahoo id.
That should not let them see you whenever you are online, the id of that person only(the ones you chose o be able to see you offline permanently) appears italicized everytime you log in.

Rick-click on the person's ID in the Messenger and then go to delete.
The first time this person contacts you on YM, click on Ignore. He or she won't be able to send you Instant Messages anymore.

Hmm...a lot of good answers, most are the same, but I have a client that you can sign into and it has just about all the features you would want in a chat client and it has a strong boot resistance if you have it set right. The biggest bonus is you can have your name removed from the list of any person you want to remove it from. You can also go to your Yahoo I-M list of friends, Right click next to the ones name you wanna delete and find in the column that says delete-click it and he/she is history from your I-M list of friends. Good-Luck!!

first go to messenger on your buddy list then click preferences, and go to ignore list then put his name in there,and click apply and ok then on your list right click on his name and click delete.

Ytunnel has a feature that will remove yourself off their list.Then you delete that person off of yours.
