i have had this tricky backdoor (trojan?) variant/virus on my computer that seems to outsmart and mess up my computer by eating up my memory (256 mb) and any program/software i add to my computer to detect and/or quarantine/delete it. I have tried McAfee - Windows Live OneCare - Windows Defender - Lavasoft - alot of different programs. Are there certain steps that I have to take to get rid of it (i.e., turn off system restore - install program). Is there a certain order I must do this? (i.e. install hardware, turn off system restore, restart, turn on system restore, et al). How do I detect and get rid of this nuisance. Thanking you in advance.

Backup your files. Reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows and all the programs.

If you have tried a multitude of programs in trying to beat this and it is still present chances are that the others are not going to help you. The more programs you put on can cause more problems in itself. System restore may or may not work. Depends on how the trojan has affected the system. System restore only restores system files. If this trojan has affected an application or data file, you are just going to keep getting it.
