What is thr best indicator from the author of a website to indicate that the websit is reliable?

It will scan disk and defrag if I go to safe mode. My d drive will do both without going to safe mode without a problem....any fixes???? All updates are installed..

Do you need a special software or something. Because I've seen these files on the internet, supposedly holding pictures, videos, music... so is software required to open/view them once downloaded?

I am thinking of changing my internet to BT because of what they give for your money, i.e. the phone hub, wekend evening and weekend calls, unlimited downloads etc.

Is anyone else with BT, are they good?

i recently upgraded my working media in my computer from XP to Vista, and then downgraded it again, after having found out most of my programs dont work on Vista, but i have done loads of weird things to my com now..
1) i made a multiboot of two XP's(one of which is corrupted and can't be deleted)
2) my msn isn't working at all, Skype is though
3)Security Centre isn't working properly
4) All hardware, USB drives can't work properly on my com, i 've tried it on other com's)

It says the item is in use that's why the operation cannot be completed. I can't empty the trash. It only has a couple of pictures.

How to boot from virtual drive like mounting an image file into it and when you reboot it runs.What I mean is something like inserting the Windows installer and and when you restart the pc you can boot from the cd. Is it possible to do with the virtual drive?

I'm troubleshooting an old machine. At start-up, the screen displays text that is all gibberish (looks like encrypted text). Cannot go any further after that. I suspect that the BIOS is corrupt but I'm not very sure. Any idea what the problem is, and suitable solutions.

I have a three year old compaq presario running on windows xp, and i have NO IDEA how to get an audio driver on it. everywhere I go they tell me it's easy, but apparantly not easy enough. every time i use control panel it says "no audio device installed". am i an idiot???

its 1.5 ghz ,512MB RAM but 40-50% of it remains unused most of the time,it's defragmented ,disk scanned ,scanned with McAfee anti-virus scan plus 2007 updated,scanned with spybot search and destroy and Ad-aware SE Plus updated and shows all clean,it's resistry scanned with 'RESISTRY MECHANIC 6.0.750, fixed all errors and resistry defragmented

i use windows xp sp2
if too many unnecessary processes are running in the background then how can i find which of those to terminate?
cuz if necessary processes are terminated then system may not work properly or becomes unstable,so how to pick up unnecessary processes to terminate in the back ground?/

Sometimes, my computer shut down automatically and some of the times it automatically starts after a second after it. But sometimes, I can't see anything on my monitor after it shuts down automatically. Of course, the UPS is running and the light in the mouse is on, but there is no signal on the monitor.

I have to plug off the computer and when I start it after 15 minutes, it starts working?

What is the problem?

When I'm on my computer, is steadily slows down and eventually stops until I restart it, by holding the power button.. I've opened it up and cleaned it. I don't have much more than basic software knowledge, I mean I understand how most things work and I can't see anything wrong in my precesses window...I can screen cap it if anyone thinks that it might be a virus. Overall though, there seems to be no problem except that it just slows down and stops, in about 15 minutes, and if I change the priority of the processes it the programs that I up the priority for last longer. Almost as if something is using up all of my resources...

Any ideas?

ok so i have a friend i wana get back in touch with. i dont know where he lives, he changed his phone number and i dont know anything or anyway to contact him. is there a way where you can type somones name in somewhere and you can find somthing on them. like a phone number or where they live. maybe email???? um dont say phone book cuz not everyone is in phonebook. umm thanks if you find somthing!!!!
