What is thr best indicator from the author of a website to indicate that the websit is reliable?

Compare to four other websites on the same topic and go with the overwhelming majority?

I guess it depends on how you are using the website. If you are just gathering information for something like a report then you'd better make sure that you find a secondary reference on a different website.

Some of the other things that I look for are:

* If I'm transmitting personal data the address bar should contain a https://..., indicating you are transmitting using encryption and authentication.

* Quality of the website--the websites of big companies look like quality websites. Meaning that someone put a lot of time, effort and money into them. (I mean how much trust would you put into a restraunt with rats crawling on the floor:-)

* If the website is offering something that seems too good to be true...it probably is. Scratch that, it is too good to be true.

These are just a few things I look at. Basically, if you question the reliability of a website--you probably shouldn't rely on it.

on the bottom left of the screen, depending on what web explorer u using .. but windows internet explorer usually shows a safe sign .. or a tick .. if it unsafe.. its says unsafe in small letters down there .

but i wouldnt trust any website .. unless its a well known one like this one here ... or things like that ..

don t go to things like dodgywebsite.com
