My cousin just gave me an Compaq Evo N115 that her school gave her. She hasnt used the computer in like a year. The problem is that she forgot the password. When I cut on the computer the log-in screen doesnt look like all of the other windows log-in screen. On this screen a box pops up with her name and ask her for the password, but i dont know the password. I tried doing the F8 key i went through all that but it still asked me for the password. Can anyone help me get into this computer??????????????

I tried to start my computer this morning but the windows won't start and give the following message on the monitor.

" Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.
\windows\system32\config\...
you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using this original CD-ROM
Select "r" at the first screen to start repair"

Then I did what it tells to do. Inserted the windows set up CD and started the repair. But when it started, a message jumps out and reads
"Which Windows installation would you like to log into"
and you can only type one letter. What should I type to continue the repairing process?

Thank you.

and cure some errors
yes or no
do this In Internet explorer at top of window select tools
then internet options
then choose delete temporary files, cookies ,browser history etc
- then another box will open - select delete all
-Then close explorer then open again .At first pages will be slow once
and then will load fast after it loads 1 time. Also email etc you will have to sign in 1 time with password etc.
This will create new cookies.
then also go to start at bottom of on task bar.
click start 1 time then select find or search depending on your operating system.
Select all files and folders - then type in defrag and click search. When icons come up double click
and new box will come up - select analyze then you will see how fragmented you are -
then choose defrag. You can put this program on your desk top by right clicking on the icon you found in search for defrag.
Right click choose create short cut. This will put a short cut on your desk top. Then you can use as needed in future.
then go start on blue bar (task bar)
choose search or find
then choose all files and folders
then type in disk clean up
when you see this icon
double click
choose c drive
let it run
then click ok
so you dont have to do this again
go back to same icon
right click
choose create short cut on desk top
close all windows
a new icon will be on your desk top
then you can run it when you want to
RESTART COMPUTER AFTER YOU DO ALL THE ABOVE
IF YOU NEED TO

Is it the nifty little CDs they put on store shelves? Or the free month of service? Do people even use AOL after the free month, and if so, why?

I know this question may sound stupid but I have to ask it!

My kitchen fitter told me that I wouldn't be able to work from home while he was fitting my kitchen because (and here I'm a little vague) the pitch (or possible something else) of the powertools he was going to use could wipe my PC if I had it on while he was using his tools. He claimed a customer he'd worked for had said this was rubbish and ignored him...and then his PC was wiped.

Is this possible? Or maybe he was talking about an electrical surge or something? Or was he just trying to keep me out of the house so he could get on with his work without me keeping an eye on him?!

I checked to make sure I could open them from the disk when I was at home to make sure it worked and it did. What's the deal?

Would you please tell me what broadband you have, how much it costs you a month and most importantly - is it good/worth the money? I'm trying to persuade my mum to get it and we need to know what is the best deal. I'm pretty decided on unlimited..anyone else got that?

And I don't want anyone giving me 'yes' as their answer! Thanks
