When I cut on the computer the log-in screen doesnt look like all of the other windows log-in screen. On this screen a box pops up with her name and ask her for the password, but i dont know the password. I tried doing the F8 key i went through all that but it still asked me for the password. Can anyone help me get into this computer??????????????

In Windows XP, you can set your password so that nobody can open your computer without your permission. But a lot of people had this problem when they forgot their own password. Ask your cousin if she created a Windows Recovery Password. If she did, you can use that to recover the password. If she didn't, then that's a big headache. You need to format the hard disk then install Windows again. Note that all of the files on the computer will be lost during formatting.

No need to reinstall the OS yet.

Chances are that if she's the type to forget her password, she's also the type to forget to reset the admin password.

At the welcome screen press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice in a row. Now, you'll have the standard login dialog. Enter "Administrator" as the username, and don't enter a password. You should be able to log in. Use the admin account to delete her old account and make a new one for yourself.

If she DID set an admin password, then yeah, you'll have to reinstall the OS.

Your easiest solution is just to reinstall the Operating System. Boot the computer off a Windows XP CD, delete the old installation of Windows and reinstall.

You can install XP on a second partition.so it will be 2 XP OS installation in two drive and give a dual booting option.

now boot into the second installation

goto:
controlpanel-system-advanced-startup and recovery and change the default boot instance back to your original install.

open mycomputer and goto original system32 folder inside windows folder of old installation...rename the logon.scr to may be logonold.sc1

copy cmd.exe in ur old windows\system32 folder and paste it in a safe place. Rename old windows\system32\cmd.exe to logon.scr.

restart the machine..boot into original Xp installation.

do not move your mouse and wait for some 15 mins. command prompt will open up.
