I been told that router is unable to handle high download speed and thats why on 8meg download im only able to have at most is 101kbs(i know its up to 8meg) im using a netgear wireless router but im conected via ethernet or should i do it by wireless. Im using vista, intel 2.66x2 duel cpu, 2gig ram.

Wrong. Your download speed is limited both by your Internet connection, and the server you are downloading from. You could buy a 2 million dollar router, but it will not make your downloading any faster.

Seem network providers do say up to 8Meg Speeds but your maximum may be less. It also depends where you are downloading from, for example if you download from a site like microsoft then you will more than likely see your maximum download speed.

A wired connection is always faster than a wireless one providing you are using the same ISP, it might be your ISP is slow on downloads, or they may need to upgrade the modem, call them and have them run a test on it without using the router
