Have recently switched to BT Total Broadband. Have noticed no difference whatsoever in download speed since switching. BT claim download speeds of up to 8Mb, Speedtester says I average 6209kbps. Is that good, bad or average? Does 6000kbps = 6Mb? How I do work out conversion?

When I start the non destructive
recovery it starts copying files.
It stops on some and a message
box pops up stating that the file
could not be extracted. Is this a
normal part of the process. It ran
through quite a few with same till
it came to NTFS and stayed there
for over an hour. So I shut off the
power. The reason I want to do a
recovery is when I boot up I get a
Windows could not start because
the following file is missing or
corrupt.
\windows\system32\config\system
I went into dos and found that autoexec.bat, config.sys,
graph16, and NTFS showed zero bytes of data. I have a HP Pavilion
that sold without operating system disk. Is it normal for the recovery
process to be unable to extract
certain files? Is config.sys, etc.
in the hidden partition system
recovery files? I hope someone
can help me.

I've been known to be overly sensitive about things like this, and again I feel as if I've been wronged somewhat. I'm not looking for a solution, or a "what I should do" answer, I just want to know what your opinion is on this situation.

I am away from my home, and will be for a while. I have a certin game installed on my computer at home, however here I don't have it. Here, basically I am sitting around, and surfing the internet. It has been firmly established that I do indeed own the game. I requested on the forum a small part of the code which I was planning on modding for my game, and the staff accused me of piracy. The code is completely exposed, there is no de-encryption needed to be done to access the code, I just want files that anyone who owns the game can access. Without other files, like other parts of the code, or the art/sound files, I can't do anything with that code alone, which doesn't actually matter, since it has been established that I do indeed own the game. Anyway, they gave me an infraction for piracy, do you think this was justified, or was it unreasonable?

I am fairly new to computers. We have windows xp, we have yahoo mail. I do a disc clean up often, and we have registry fix which I do more than disc cleanup. My husband probably has 300 emails in his inbox, does this effect the speed of the computer at all? Is registry fix hurting the computer? We're almost DIAL UP slow and my head is thisclose to popping off!

I tipped my camera over, and now all my vacation pics show as Unrecognized File Format on the camera screen (ahhh!). I was able to copy the files to my computer, but nothing will open them. The file header seems to be corrupt on all of them. Any suggestions? I tried Data Doctor Recovery but it will not detect the camera.
I do not have a separate memory card, I am just using the camera's original built in memory.
Thanks for any suggestions.
