Do you need a special software or something. Because I've seen these files on the internet, supposedly holding pictures, videos, music... so is software required to open/view them once downloaded?

There is a program available for download called Winrar. Winzip is my favorite though as it is more widely suppored and also unzips standard zip files. In case you're wondering, rar files are basically the same as a zip file, just a different format. Hope this help!

Download Winzip at http://www.winzip.com
