I'm starting school in week and am looking to get a laptop before then. I was just wondering if there's a huge difference in speed, or whatever else it might impact (other than cost) in the two processors.
I'm not a gamer or a programmer, I'd just use it for basic everyday things.. school, music, streaming vids, etc. Is it worth shelling out more money for the core 2 duo? I know how fast technology changes.

I've checked in the set-up menus, where it says the bar can be moved, but not how to do it. It's really annoying and I would appreciate an answer to this.

I just bought a new power supply and video card.

I'm about to head over to my Dad's house and he's going to give me a hand replacing my current psp and video card. I know how to replace the video card but not the power supply so I'm going to be following an online guide. I've replaced my video card a few times before, but not the power supply.

I don't have a wrist strap, and I just got back from driving into town to eget that stuff, so I'm not enthusiastic about heading back into town, for a 15 minute job.

If I unplug my computer, let it cool off, and then touch a non-painted metal surface like a bolt or screw and then replacing the parts, will I fly my computer parts?

My system is a P4 3.2 (640) (2mb L2), 2 GB DDR400, 7800 GT with 256mb ddr3, 500gb hd's, Dual DVD Writers, LAN, Modem etc.

I bought this rig about 2 years ago. Still works perfectly but was wondering if I should seel it and get a quad core dd3 etc. My usage is some games, net, office etc.. This runs it fine but I see all this shiny new hardware and yum... ;)

Opnions ??

Btw what do you think this system would be worth now ?? It's mint condition.

i've tried litterelly everthing. i looked up the audio device, i tried playing a sound file. but it said that the sound card is in use. i tried to put the volume control up on the computer but it said no device is connected. i need help. i restarted the computer several times and nothing.

Windows XP won't start any more even in safe more, the machine keeps restarting and I can see a blue screen but I can't read it, any ideas ?

Occasionally a bsod with KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR will pop up on my screen and force my computer to restart. This may happen 8 times a day, or only once. Ive looked up possible solutions all over and have not found one that is specific enough to help. I havent found a source to this problem either because the bsod seems to happen randomly. The error message has the 0xc00000185 (or similar) warning at the end and possible causes could be that the code indicates improper termination, defective storage controller hardware, or defective disk cabling, or two devices attempting to use the same resources. I got the comp brand new in january, worked fine throught april when the crashes started occurring. Then I wiped it clean and started over. It again worked perfectly up until the beginning of July and has been pestering me since. I am almost at my wit's end with these crashes and a solution would be greatly appreciated.

My computer does not automatically restart itself when I click on the restart computer button after installing a new program? I have to do it manually through the start menu. I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite(did scan and nothing), Spy-Bot Search&Destroy(scan and nothing), WinPatrol Plus, SpyWare Blaster, and SpyWare Guard...So I have no virus or spyware problems. Anyone have any ideas or solutions to why and how to fix my issue? It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all!

I got this new Western Digital 120 gb external harddrive last week. Everything was working fine. the drive was working on vista.

last night i went to my friends place and removed the drive directly without selecting the safely remove option. From that point of time the drive doesnt work in vista nor xp. it says usb device malfunctioned. USB device not recongnized!

Please someone help me with this because I had alot of backup in this drive.

Recently, my computer's been acting up. The screen began freezing. Now, the monitor won't get past the initial black screen and the hard disk light doesn't blink, even though I can hear the hard drive spinning. In fact, the monitor power light goes orange, indicating that it's not receiving any signal.
My bro says the montior went (I went and bought a new cheap one, still doesn't work). Other sites I've read say that it could be the power supply. My local computer store says the mother board has gone. Staples says the video card has gone. I personally think it's the motherboard. Which, if any is it?
I've already paid over $100 on useless diagnostics, so please help me if you can! I can't afford a whole new computer right now :).

The computer needs the hard drive to be reformatted and the recovery disks installed but I have pictures that I need to back up. The computer will not start up or go into safe mode. It was suggested by HP to use the hard drive as a secondary HD on another computer. Have no idea of how to do that but if I had instructions for that my father could probably do that using his computer. Thanks for any info that will help me save my pics. I also was told that there are places to take my computer and that they have a way to copy the hard drive ???? Thanks again.

Hi,
I want to buy, from the US, a new Graphics Card to SLI it with my current (UK version) 7600GT and a 1GB memory stick (PC3200 400Mhz 184-pin DIMM) to combine it with my other stick in the UK........because it is cheaper.

I would like to know if there will be any problems in combining US and UK components on in a PC and if the make of the memory stick I want to buy has to be the same as the one I currently have, similarly with the Graphics Card.

why do some times monitor desktop screen goes up and down left and right and becomes half . it looks like somebody

is pulling from inside the monitor/

is it the prob with monitor or graphic card /


i have not kept cell phone near the monitor nor it is ringing or i havee not switched on the
fan nothing then why it is showing like this. when i click any desktop icon then the entire screen shakes go left . i tried adjusting the settings by pressing the button on monitor still going left right the screen by the side it shows blank blue screen . only half screen seen
