Been inside the computer lately? USB ports are often connected to headers on the motherboard. It is easy to knock them loose if you are wrestling a drive out (or in.)

They could be disabled.
you can check by going to Start < right-clicking on My computer < properties < hardware < Device manager < Universal Serial Bus controllers.

or from past experiance. the computer may have a short in it, most likly caused by a screew being out of place.
to see if this is the problem take your mother board out of the case and lay it down on a peice of card board. then run you computer normaly and check you usb drives.

good luck!

Have you tried Restarting your computer, That should fix it, If not your USB Ports may have blown, and thats not a good thing.

But Remember MOST COMPUTER PROBLEMS CAN BE FIXED WITH A RESTART< lol. Thats Very important to remember.

click on start then go to control panel and check if you are in category view or classic view (category view has big icons and blue background/classic is like a regular window white background) once you are on control panel classic view click on system click on the hardware tab and click device manager. see if there is any lil circles with exclamation points if there is that is more likely your problem. just check universal serial bus you might need to reinstall them or try fdisk and reinstall or try maybe even system restore.
